Is it just me, or is the DWP getting a bit too "Inspector Gadget" lately? Iโm seeing so many people panicking about reporting every single penny.
Look, weโre all just trying to keep our heads above water in Paignton, and honestly, some of you are oversharing for no reason! ๐
Here is the reality of what they actually "need" to know in my opinion โฆ.
If you sell ยฃ50 worth of clothes or an old sofa on Marketplace because youโre skint like I just have, that is not income. Itโs your own stuff. Why tell them so they can try and find a reason to dock you? There is literally no point in trying to get ahead if youโre just going to hand it back.
If a friend lends you twenty quid to cover a bill or grab some bits from Lidl, thatโs a loan, not a salary. Keep it private. ๐ค
You donโt need to report every fiver you put in a jar for a rainy day. Unless your savings hit ยฃ6,000, it doesnโt trigger those "taper" deductions. And if you aren't at ยฃ16,000 (we wish, right?), your claim isnโt stopping.
Unless youโre off to Spain for more than 28 days, they donโt need the itinerary of your life. โ๏ธ
Unless youโve moved house, a partner has moved in, youโve landed a new job, or a health condition has changed, just live your life.
You aren't "committing fraud" by selling your own shoes to buy milk. Youโre just surviving. Stop giving them ammunition to make your life harder when the rules say you don't have to!
Who else is sick of the over policing?
