My earlier career was teaching art in secondary schools in Merseyside, Tyneside and Northumberland. I later became County Coordinator (Arts and Crafts) for Cumbria’s Adult Education Service. I teach printmaking courses at Kendal’s Brewery Arts Centre. In 2011, Lancaster University Medical School introduced life drawing as part of medical students’ training, I have taught these sessions, using older models, aiming to counteract the idealised, computerised images with which students are familiar. Since being awarded an MA (Contemporary Arts Practice) in 2001, I have developed my printing practice to include both relief and etching methods.

Sue is an artist printmaker with a studio in Kendal. She takes inspiration from literature and from the weather and remote northern sea and landscapes. Her intensely coloured monotypes (one-of- a-kind prints)are increasingly impressionistic, portraying emotions and memories associated with natural phenomena rather than showing their physical reality. Sue is also creating a new series of very different monotypes which are hand rubbed from gel plates.

Jamie is a Printmaker & Freelance Curator based in Kendal. His artwork is principally concerned with manmade structures: houses, buildings, townscapes and structures in the landscape. Jamie principally uses the trace monotype, carborundum and etching printmaking techniques. During a recent artist’s residency at UCLan, Jamie learnt how to safe etch using copper sulphate and built up a new body of work exploring structures.
