Growing Singing (run by Clare Elleray Mee) is a small business based in Kendal that encourages and enables a growing number of people to enjoy the benefits of a blooming good sing! Therefore, I run some singing opportunities myself both in Kendal and I promote other singing opportunities locally.

What an absolutely lovely (hard work!) day we had at Growing Well today!

You may know we support them as a choir with a percentage of the fee income for the choir going directly to Growing Well every month but we also join in with their Field Friday community volunteers now and then and today a small group of us were there doing ALL SORTS of different job. Look at that list of jobs ticked off at the end of the day! So satisfying.

Needless to say, the 3 of us did NOT do all those. A delightful crew of regular Friday volunteers were there too. It’s a fab volunteering role - if you’re interested contact Growing Well directly.

A date for your diaries though is Saturday 17th October when we’re doing a really special concert all in aid of Growing Well at the Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal. Very excited about that one already!

Thanks for hosting us today Growing Well and we’ll be back next month!

As well as singing for our own pleasure the Growing Singers will sometimes venture out and entertain the folk of Kendal. Last year we performed at the Kendal Nature Recovery Festival. We so enjoyed adding our support and songs to this important cause.

Did you know that as well as being a fantastic community choir the Growing Singers also raises money for Growing Well?

Growing Well is a local charity that helps people recover their mental health through horticultural. As well as financial support during the summer months singers are invited to experience first hand the power of tending the crops on Growing Well's volunteer days.

Here we are showing off our harvest of French beans, destined for that week's crop share.

You can sing

All too often folk are told they can’t sing. Singing is for watching on the TV talent shows and stadium tours. People often say “I’m tone deaf” or “I can’t carry a tune”. But when scientists actually studied if people could follow rhythms or hold notes the data showed that overwhelmingly people could.

At Growing Singing we can help you discover that you can sing. Singing together in a supportive group environment can help you discover the joy of song. Find out more at our website…

Find your tribe

Studies have shown that the more personal connections we have the happier we are. Building those connections can be hard. But one thing that has brought people together for millennia is singing. Singing together. Singing to celebrate the good times. Singing to find strength in the bad times. As early humans once sang around savannah campfires now modern humans are now singing in Kendal Town Hall!

Joining together in song can bring joy, compassion and community. To find out how Growing Singing can help bring those qualities into your life visit our website…
