We had our first consultation workshop with our Steering group a few weeks ago. We shared a space and created, had important conversations about the future and direction of our project, and shared some laughs! πŸƒ

The Story Pole Project: Reflect, Re-write, Re-claim explores women's and girls' safety in green public spaces and what creative action can be created for the local community of Cliffe Castle Park.

TSPP is funded through Lord Mayor's Safer Communities Fund and supported by Bradford Council Parks. The Story Pole Project: Reflect, Re-write, Re-claim intends to explore the creative action of women's and girls' safety in public green spaces in Yorkshire.

We are in the first stages of mapping this research; follow along and join our journey!

Meet the Producers and Lead Artists for The Story Pole Project 🎨

Aamta and Carole will lead the community workshops, which we will share with you all soon! Aamta and Carole are passionate about advocating for women and girls through their art practises.

🎨 Carole's work offers a poetic reflection upon the process and content of her making, allowing the viewer to observe and encounter surreal and complex relationships between objects, subjects and language. Her subject is the self as a mother, artist, and nurturer. She extracts experiences by remaking functioning objects to reveal domesticity's poetic chaos.

🎨 Aamta is an interdisciplinary artist who identifies as Muslim. She is a vocal advocate for the advancement of South Asian women by challenging deeply ingrained cultural perceptions and social constructs through her work. Her creative practice focuses on exploring relational and concept art, particularly in the context of taboo subjects concerning Muslim and South Asian women. As a British Muslim woman, Aamta draws inspiration from her experiences and societal issues within the South Asian community.
