What a great day at our very first Colour Run event with the children of St. David’s Primary!

We had the absolute pleasure of celebrating the end of the year by bringing colour and chaos to the whole school in the glorious sunshine.

From collecting their custom tattoos, white t-shirts (to show the full carnage!) and new sunglasses this morning, to rolling around in the colour stations at the end of the event, the hilarity and energy were incredible from start to finish.

A huge thank you to the kids for absolutely going for it and to the staff and volunteers who helped, especially those who ended up as “colourful” as the kids.

We loved every minute of it and can’t wait to bring even more colour-filled adventures in the future!

The sun is out, the crazy dungas are on, and I’m off to paint for WestFest at The Big Sunday!

And my gosh… it really is BIG!

Expect live music, amazing tribute acts, circus performers, Karen Dunbar, paintings on railings, loads of family activities, and of course… a Doodlebug!

I’ll be painting with a team of talented artists from 11am–4pm, bringing colour and smiles so if you’re heading along, come and say hello — I’d love to see you ♥️

A Game of Two Halves

What a day for Team Doodlebug!

The morning started 9am for North Kelvin Utd, painting hundreds of Saltires to a bangin’ soundtrack, with high energy and lots of excited faces (many adults 💙). The atmosphere was fantastic, the banter was on point and I loved every minute of it.

Then it was off to Dear Green Music Scene for WestFest with the wonderful Lisa Good of Blue Moon Body Art - Glitter Bar & Face Painting Glasgow where the pace was a little more relaxed and creative. We painted against a wonderful backdrop of ceilidh music, swing, jazz, folk and dancing, with a steady stream of creative requests from children and adults alike. It was one of those events where you find yourself stopping to appreciate the atmosphere. I only wish I’d taken more photos!

Meanwhile, two other Doodlebugs were out at brilliant birthday parties, creating pirates, animals, pretty florals and all sorts of colourful designs for their guests.

Days like these remind us how lucky we are to do what we do. Thank you to every school, festival organiser, parent, company and community group that invites us along to be part of your celebrations and events.

June is FULLY BOOKED!

But don’t panic — if you’re stuck for a face painter (or arm painter 😝 glitter person etc), send me a message. I’m always happy to recommend other talented artists. No gatekeeping, ever.

July weekends are filling up fast too, with limited availability but many weekdays remain free. If face paint, glitter, festival sparkle or colourful chaos is on your event wishlist, give me a shout soon!

Insider tip: Last-minute bookings often have more luck if you’re flexible with timing. On weekends, morning and after 4pm tend to have better availability across the entertainment world.
Or in the school holidays, why not try a week day?

Things I’ve learned this weekend…

Friday night, we arrived at Williamsburgh Primary School and with no obvious signs or branding, the kids were shouting, “It’s the Face Painter!” 🤣 Apparently I’ve reached the stage where even dressed head-to-toe in black, I now look like a face painter.

Saturday I met and painted loads of lovely weans in Houston (and a few adults too!). What I learned? Spending all day painting in a field is a great reminder that I’m not actually as young as I think I am… my joints would like a word with the manager.

And today I learned not to get sad when a wee girl comes back with a clean face for a second face paint … because it might just be her sister. 🤦‍♀️😂

What a brilliant weekend though! Thank you to everyone who stopped by for some paint, glitter or to challenge me to paint random stuff 😂
