Create your own needle-felted decor for FREE! The next artist to be revealed for our A Candlelight Night is Craft with Amy. Inspired by all things cozy, in this autumn needle felting workshop, you can create autumn leaves, a mushroom or a mini pumpkin. So get thinking which you'll choose!

A Candlelight Night is on Friday 9th October 6 - 9 pm at St George's Church, Jesmond. We’re lighting the church with hundreds of candles, hosting a series of craft workshops, and welcoming a selection of local artisans and traders.

Amy will run this workshop starting at 6.15 pm and again at 8 pm to enable more people to take part. All materials will be provided. Attending the stalls, market and craft workshops is FREE, however we ask for a £5 deposit to secure your ticket which will be refunded after you attend the event.

Black history is built into our trail as we try to restore those stories you really should have heard of. Have a listen to Stop 3 to hear about Jack London - the third Black British Olympian, and Stop 11 to hear about Irene Ighogaro - a key figure in maternity care and Sierra Leone's first female doctor.

We've been signposting other projects and sources to find more and so we'll be adding Oxfam Books & Music, Jesmond to our digital guide for this display!

We also heavily recommend the African Lives in Northern England project who helped us find these incredible stories and offer Guided Tours of Newcastle.

Announcing our next free workshop of A Candlelight Night!

Make a window hanging inspired by our stained glass. Celebrating the beauty around us at St George's Church, Jesmond (with some inspiration from Jesmond United Reformed Church too), you'll be able to design your own 'stained glass' paper craft to hang in your window at home to remember this evening.

We’re lighting the church with hundreds of candles, hosting a series of craft workshops, and welcoming a selection of local artisans and traders. Attending the stalls, market and craft workshops is free, however we ask for a £5 deposit to secure your ticket which will be refunded after you attend the event.

Announcing the first free workshop of A Candlelight Night!

Create your own space through collage with artist Britt Coxon. Explore belonging, change your city, put your inner world on the page or create something fantastical. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring a picture to include in your collage.

Britt Coxon Art and Design helped visitors make our brilliant zine at our Make Your Mark event, and we can't wait to share that with you too! They'll also have their own stall at this event with all sorts of paper based delights.
