As we approach D-Day, we remember the scale of the Normandy landings and the thousands of people involved across land, sea and air.

These figures reflect the Allied invasion operations that took place on 6 June 1944 — one of the most significant military operations in history.

Above all, they represent the courage, sacrifice and service of those who took part.🌺

Congratulations to Robbie Thomson on being selected as the 2026 Jethart’s Callant.

Alongside his Henchmen, he will now begin the journey towards this year’s festival, representing the town and carrying on the proud traditions of the Jethart’s Callant’s Festival.

We wish Robbie, his family and friends a fantastic summer ahead and look forward to seeing the blue and red proudly carried throughout the festival season.

All welcome to attend on Sunday 25th May 1pm in Princess st gardens 🌺

Our fourth remembrance event of the year will be the Scottish American Memorial Day Service, held at the Call Memorial, Princes Street Gardens West, Edinburgh.

📍 Join us at:
1300hrs on Monday 25th May 2026
As we gather to honour the service and sacrifice of those Scottish and American men and women who stood together in times of war.

This annual service is a moving tribute to the historic friendship and shared military heritage between Scotland and the United States, remembering those who gave so much for freedom.

All are welcome to attend and pay their respects at this special act of remembrance.

in 1945 was Victory in Europe Day, marking the formal end of WWII after N**i Germany formally surrendered. Millions took to the streets across the UK to celebrate peace after years of devastating war. While VE Day was a time to commemorate and celebrate the end of the War in Europe, the fighting continued in the Far East for a further three months.
