I recently mixed an alternative version of a song by an amazing American band I'd been listening to.
I loved the song and wanted to see where I'd take it.
To me, it wanted to be a little more open, a little wider and just breathe a bit more.
When I sent it over, the band came back saying they loved the direction and felt it really suited the song.
What made it even more interesting was that the version they'd already released had been mixed by a Grammy-winning engineer.
It's always nice when someone connects with your interpretation of a song.
It reminded me that there isn't one perfect mix. There are different ways of telling the same story.
