Maggie MacInnes and Band; The Kalokerinos Tapes

Friday 19 June

www.ticketsource.com/harbour-arts-centre

Award winning Gaelic singer, Maggie MacInnes, will be performing contemporary arrangements of songs from a previously unreleased private archive recorded by her mother, the great traditional singer from the island of Barra, Flora MacNeil MBE.

The archive of around 180 songs was recorded in the 1950s and 60s by an Australian folklorist, Dr James Kalokerinos, and includes many rare gems alongside some of the many traditional songs which Flora helped make popular today.

With assistance from Creative Scotland, Maggie has put together a show which pays tribute to Flora and to other tradition bearers who passed on the songs to her. She has also recently recorded the songs from the show on her new album, Uiseagan Bharraigh (Barra Skylarks), which is to be launched at this event.

The show was first performed at Glasgow's Celtic Connections festival in January of this year to a sell-out crowd and is to tour the highlands and islands in the summer.

Further information at www.maggiemacinnes.co.uk

Accompanying Maggie will be some of Scotland’s finest musicians including Wendy Weatherby (cello), Calum Park (fiddle & guitar), Conal McDonagh (pipes & flute) and Dan Brown (keyboards) and Alex Palmer (percussion)

We are delighted to showcase The Divine 9 Collective Exhibition in our large studio space here at the HAC. On display until Saturday 11 July.

Please call ahead to view ensure access to this beautiful exhibition to avoid disappointment when workshops are taking place.

10am to 4pm

I’m absolutely delighted to announce that seven artists from my recent mentoring programme, The Divine 9 Collective, are joining me as part of my LIVE LIFE IN COLOUR exhibition!

Their beautiful, bold and wonderfully varied work is now exhibited and available to buy in Studio 1 at the Harbour Arts Centre, Irvine, from 17 June until Saturday 11 July.

This exhibition is a celebration of the joy of creativity, collaboration and what can happen when artists support, encourage and champion one another.

I am incredibly proud of them and the work they have created. Please pop in, soak up all that glorious colour and see their wonderful work in person! And missing Janelles Art who can't join us this time.

"We are delighted to be coming back to the Harbour Arts Centre and feel excited to perform again to such a lovely audience"

La Dolce Vita Swing Collective return, wrapped in the late-night glamour of vintage Las Vegas and kissed with true dolce vita spirit 🍸

Expect lyrical piano, velvet sax, warm bass lines, skipping drums and smooth vocals — the kind of sound that feels tailor-made for a martini in hand and a slow smile across the room.

Shaped by the Great American Songbook and the effortless Rat Pack cool of Sinatra, Dean Martin and their sharp-suited circle, the band weave mid-century American swing with a touch of Italian romance. Think moonlit piazzas, elegant melodies and an irresistible amore per la musica 🇮🇹✨

Pop favourites drift through the set in sumptuous swing-jazz style — The Beatles, The Jersey Boys, Queen and Michael Jackson — all reimagined with polish, charm and a whisper of bella notte magic.

It’s the kind of evening you plan your week around: intimate, uplifting and impossible to leave without a smile. 🎶💫

🎟 Not to be missed — join us for a night of swing, style and pure La Dolce Vita.
