Irchester Players - Est 1977

Irchester Players - Est 1977 We are a performing arts charity based in Irchester, on the east of the county of Northamptonshire. Use the contact form to get in touch.

For all ticket purchasing please visit: www.ticketsource.co.uk/irchesterplayers We are a friendly and professional community theatre group based in Irchester, on the east of the county of Northamptonshire, in-between Rushden and Wellingborough. Our membership represents a broad cross-section of society coming from all over the county; and our members range from young to old. The group’s purpose is

to further the work of the amateur dramatics arts in the UK. We aim to stage three shows every year; a family pantomime in early to mid February, then a r***e and play later on in the year – usually around May and October. In addition, we also like to get involved with the local community and do one-off shows/r***es for other bodies in the village of Irchester. All of our shows are staged at Parsons Hall in the High Street, Irchester. We rehearse every Wednesday night at the Village Hall in Irchester, and closer to each show we rehearse on Sundays at either the Village Hall or Parsons Hall itself. At Irchester Players our ethos is to provide our members with a second family and group of friends, and after a short time with the group members will certainly feel the strength of this ethos. The group’s official date of creation, as stated in our Constitution, is 28 January 1977, making the group over 40 years old. However, the society was actually active a few years before this official date. Players first began as a play reading group in the 1970s, which met on regular occasions to read plays of the members picking. A small group of members decided to move on to acting and set about staging shows and galas for the local community of Irchester and Wollaston – with a regular slot being dedicated to performing for a mother’s group. Between 1974 and 1975 this small group of actors was coached by the Royal Shakespeare Company, and went on to enter into various play competitions, at which a number of titles were won, including a county title in April 1975. Over this period the group was operating mainly from Wollaston Comprehensive School. Then in 1977 the group moved its focus to Irchester and staged its first ever pantomime, Aladdin and his Wonderful Lamp, which ran for two days – 28 and 29 January 1977. Over its 40+ year history the group has continued to operate from its custodial seat in Irchester, Northamptonshire – using venues and halls within the village to rehearse and stage its shows. The group has held long term residency at the Village Hall and moved to its current resident venue Parsons Hall some years ago. As the years have gone on many people have shaped the group to make it what it is today. With each production that ticks by we always remember the efforts of those that went before us. As the group has grown from strength to strength it has always remained committed to its grass roots in Irchester – investing back into the village, communities and businesses within it. If you know more about the history of Irchester Players we would love to hear from you.

MEET THE BAND ✨ Our final Cast Reveal!

"Behind every great dreamcoat is an incredible soundtrack..." 🎹🎸🥁
While our amazing cast lights up the stage, there is a powerhouse team hidden away making sure those iconic tunes sound absolutely spectacular! Today, we are shining a well deserved spotlight on the legendary Irchester Players band: Richard, Amanda, Keith, Kev, and Ash! From the country western twang of 'One More Angel' to the rock 'n' roll beats of Pharaoh, and the high energy calypso rhythms, these five musical maestros tackle every single genre in the show without missing a beat.

We took a break from rehearsals to ask them a quick question and grab a fun fact:

🎨 Which musical style or song in the show is the absolute most fun to play live?

Richard: "Potiphar is fun. Mixture of tempos and some jazzy piano."
Amanda: "I think I will have to say Close Every Door."
Keith: "Those Canaan Days!"
Kev: "Poor Poor Joseph is my favourite because of the funk feel in the bass."
Ash: "I like Potiphar because I can't get it out of my head."

💥 TELL US A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF:

Richard: This is Richard's 7th musical with Irchester Players. He also competes yearly in a running race against a train in Wales... he is yet to win!
Amanda: Amanda is a Music Teacher and a Midwife!
Keith: When Keith was a teen, he misread one of his gig lists. "23rd February TBC" - Keith turned up at Towcester Bowls Club and nobody was there... turns out it actually meant To Be Confirmed.
Kev: Kev is part of 2 jazz bands and a party band. He's a busy man!
Ash: Ash once had a nice chat with the Queen Consort Camilla about Christmas Presents.

Come hear Richard, Amanda, Keith, Kev, and Ash bring the house down at Parsons Hall this July! 🌟

✨ MEET THE CAST: THE CHOIR (PART 2) ✨

"Give me my coloured coat, my amazing coloured coat..." 🎶🌈

Following on from our first group, today we are incredibly proud to introduce the second half of our sensational children's choir: Evie T, Teddy, Cody, Evie B, Lucia, Olivia, Kara, Lydia, Ameliah, and Millie! 🌟

These talented young performers bring so much joy, focus, and powerhouse singing to the stage. Whether they are backing up the Narrator, reacting to the drama, or helping Joseph tell his famous story, their energy is absolutely infectious and completely lights up the theatre.

Just like the first group, we let them off the hook with the interview questions so they could focus on their brilliant singing and dancing instead! They have been absolute superstars throughout the entire rehearsal process, and they cannot wait to perform for a live audience.

Come cheer on Evie T, Teddy, Cody, Evie B, Lucia, Olivia, Kara, Lydia, Ameliah, Millie, and the rest of our fantastic company at Parsons Hall this July! 🎭✨

✨ MEET THE CAST: THE CHOIR (PART 1) ✨

"Children of Israel, never fear..." 🎶🧒

No production of Joseph is complete without the iconic energy, pure vocals, and bright smiles of the children's choir! Today, we are absolutely delighted to introduce the first half of our incredible young performers: Isla, Billie-Rae, Ettie, Harvey, Paige, Charlotte, Felix, Phoebe, and Reuben! 🌟

These superstar singers have been working incredibly hard in rehearsals, mastering some seriously tricky harmonies and keeping the energy sky high from the very first note of the show. They are the absolute heart and soul of the storytelling, sitting right at the front of the action and bringing the magic of the dreamcoat to life.

We didn't want to grill them with interview questions, so instead, we are just giving them the massive shout out they deserve! They are doing an amazing job, and we know their families, friends, and the whole audience are going to be so proud of them.

Come cheer on Isla, Billie-Rae, Ettie, Harvey, Paige, Charlotte, Felix, Phoebe, Reuben, and the rest of our wonderful choir at Parsons Hall this July! 🌈✨

✨ MEET THE CAST: THE MALE ENSEMBLE ✨

"Brothers, angels, and citizens of Egypt..." 🐫🕺

Today, we are highlighting the multi-talented gents who bring the crowd scenes, big harmonies, and epic dance breaks to life! Meet our fantastic male ensemble: Alex, Julian, Wayne, and Marcus!

Whether they are populating Pharaoh’s court or keeping the energy sky high in the big group numbers, these guys are the backbone of the show's massive ensemble energy.

We cornered them backstage to ask a new burning question:

🎨 If you suddenly woke up with Joseph's power to interpret dreams, what is the first thing you're predicting?

Alex: "I would interpret a range of events that would lead me to a large amount of money to buy whatever I want. A bit like the sports magazine results section in Back To The Future!"

Julian: "The day that World Peace breaks out!”

Wayne: "Which weather forecast is actually right- the app, the news, or my mum 😂… On a serious note, I’d want to know what is takes for humanity to choose compassion over hate. That seems like the dreams worth interpreting.”

Marcus: "I would predict the next Ice Hockey championship winner!”

💥 TELL US A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF:

Alex: Alex is distantly related to Paul Martin from Flog It!

Julian: Julian actually has Royal Blood!

Wayne: Wayne runs a busy events business called Party Time Entertainments and is also a Music Producer and working on his second album. Check out ‘Wayne Pryke’ on streaming services! 🎶

Marcus: Marcus is an Amateur Magician.

Come catch the lads and the rest of the incredible cast performing live at Parsons Hall this July! 🌟

✨ MEET THE CAST: THE FEMALE ENSEMBLE ✨

"A beautiful Egyptian growth industry..." 💃🎶

Today, we are thrilled to introduce the powerhouse team behind the show's incredible energy, harmonies, and non stop dance routines. Meet our fantastic female ensemble: Chloe, Jodie, Freya, Julie, Dulcie, and Izzy!

From glamorous Egyptian dancers to backing singers with serious attitude, these six are the ultimate chameleons of the stage, bringing every single musical number to life.

We caught up with the group to ask them one burning question:

🎨 Which song in the show is an absolute earworm that you cannot stop singing at home?

* Chloe: "Jacob in Egypt! I cannot get this song out of my head"

* Jodie: "Every song seems to be an earworm for me. With 3 other members of my family in the show, there is a different song playing in every room. I do like Jacob coming to Egypt though. It’s a good one for the soprano in me to sing.”

* Freya: "Go Go Go Joseph”

* Julie: "Song of the King reprise because there is a part in it that reminds me of a Sabrina Carpenter song!"

* Dulcie: "I can't stop singing Go Go Go Joseph"

* Izzy: "Probably Go Go Go Joseph!”

💥 TELL US A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF:

* Chloe: Chloe's first ever acting gig was playing baby Jesus in a church nativity. Her method acting was so intense that she slept through the entire performance and didn't learn a single line.

* Jodie: Jodie is related to Shanie Wallis who played Nancy in the film Oliver. She also found out that Alex’s family friends are too, such a small world!

* Freya: Freya has completed at the Cheerleading Nationals 2026 and came 4th overall!

* Julie: Julie is a children's entertainer and party princess!

* Dulcie: Dulcie's childhood dream was to be an actor!

* Izzy: Izzy played her first principal role in the last pantomime!

Come see Chloe, Jodie, Freya, Julie, Dulcie, and Izzy light up the stage at Parsons Hall this July! 🌟

🏆 NODA East Midlands Awards 🏆

We are absolutely delighted that our productions received five nominations this year, a fantastic achievement that reflects the hard work, talent and dedication of everyone involved both on and off stage.

A special congratulations goes to Emma Ellson, who took home the award for Best Individual Pantomime Performance! 🌟 An outstanding achievement and thoroughly deserved recognition for the energy, commitment and talent she brings to every performance.

We are so proud of all of our nominees and everyone who helped make our productions possible. Whether you performed, directed, choreographed, worked backstage, built sets, helped with costumes, sold tickets, or supported us from the audience, this recognition belongs to all of you.

✨ MEET THE CAST: PHARAOH ✨

"Pharaoh is in the building!" 🎸👑 Eyeballs up, sunglasses on, and get ready to twist, because today we are introducing the King of Egypt himself!

Meet Adrian Ellson, who is taking on the role of Pharaoh, the rock 'n' roll ruler with a giant pyramid, a confusing dream about cows, and a serious love for blue suede shoes. Adrian brings total superstar energy, killer hip swivels, and a whole lot of pompadour attitude to the stage.

We managed to get past his royal security team to ask a few highly critical questions:

🎨 Get to know Adrian:

Who is more exhausting to deal with: your adoring fans, or Joseph's 11 brothers?

"My adoring fans!!!"

If you weren't the absolute ruler of Egypt, what would your backup career be?

"An Elvis impersonator or a stand up comedian."

Fun Fact:
Adrian worked as a compare in a Cabaret Club working alongside the likes of Gary Wilmot, Billy Pearce and Joe Longthorne. He also used to sing and tell jokes before the male st*****rs came on and had to share their dressing room! 🤣

Don't miss Adrian bringing the house down at Parsons Hall this July. Thank you very much! 👑🕺
