Meet Joe Davey – a self-taught Suffolk artist specialising in atmospheric charcoal drawings and oil paintings.

Based in Ipswich, Joe finds inspiration in local scenes — from sweeping Felixstowe seascapes to the unconventional beauty of a car park.

His work captures fleeting moments of wonder in everyday life, often shaped by an obsession with light. That pursuit takes him from depictions of brilliant sunshine to quiet night scenes lit by distant lampposts.

Joe's ability to find poetry in the ordinary makes his work both intimate and arresting — we’re so excited to welcome him to Art on the Prom 2025!

My joint exhibition with my Dad starts next Thursday at Artspace, Woodbridge (7th to the 13th of November). We will be there for 1 week, please feel free to drop by and say hi 🙂.
