We are delighted to be partnering with Drama Arts Productions to run a one-off teacher day at Malvern College in Hong Kong this October!

Our CPD for teachers offers a practical, immersive introduction to Gecko’s distinctive approach to physical and devised theatre.

Through hands-on exercises and movement-based exploration, teachers gain tools to embed physical storytelling into their classroom practice — enriching lesson delivery and deepening student engagement.

Date: October 3rd 2026
Fee: 250 GBP (or 200GBP if more than one teacher attends from the same school).

The workshop will include preparatory exercises, group discussion and practical techniques that can be taken straight back into the classroom. We will explore how to devise from a stimulus, layer and develop movement and ideas. We will use breath, language and explore emotional physicality.

You will move, have fun, express, feed your practice and connect with yourself and other local teachers through creative discovery.

This year marks our first ever appearance at the Music and Drama Education Expo and we couldn’t be more excited to share our work!

The Expo is a brilliant opportunity to connect with teachers, artists and creative practitioners from across the UK who share our passion for physical theatre and creative education. It’s a chance to exchange ideas, learn from others and celebrate how imaginative, movement-based approaches can enrich both teaching and performance.

We’re especially looking forward to meeting educators who already use our work in the classroom and to exploring new ways we can support and collaborate with the wider theatre education community.

Across both days of the Expo, you’ll find us in the Main Exhibition at Stand C7. Come and visit us - we’d love to chat, hear about your work and share more about how you can collaborate with us.

We’ll be kicking off the Expo with a 30-minute Morning Warm Up session in the Keynote Theatre at 9.30am on Thursday. Led by our Associate Director, Helen Baggett, and Devising Performer, Miguel Torres Umba, this will be a vibrant, energising start to the day designed to get everyone moving, connecting and ready for the two inspiring days ahead. Later that day, we will be taking part in Fireside Guests at 11.30am, where we’ll share insights into our devising process, methodology and creative engagement work.

Casting call for The Deal with Dream Awake - a large-scale immersive theatre production in Shenzhen, China, created and directed by Amit Lahav (Artistic Director of Gecko and Dream Awake).

Dream Awake are currently looking to connect with experienced physical performers, dancers, musicians and actor-musicians to join an exceptional international ensemble.

Who they’re looking for:

Physical Performers / Dancers
Dynamic, brave and emotionally intelligent artists with strong physical theatre and/or contemporary dance experience.
Minimum 3 years professional experience preferred.

Musicians / Actor-Musicians
High-level instrumentalists (particularly accordion, violin or cello) with strong improvisational skills, stage presence and a collaborative spirit.
Ability to sing and/or move physically is a plus.

About the project:
The Deal is a long-running immersive production in Shenzhen, offering performers the opportunity to live and work internationally as part of a unique large-scale theatre project in one of Asia’s most dynamic cities.
