I've been doing this work for 5 years now and feel so privileged to have helped clients reach their goals. Whether it was starting a new business, setting up a crafting area, clearing the way for renovations like a new kitchen or new windows to be installed, or finally having the space to invite friends and family to visit, being part of their lives was a real honour.

I hope you achieve your dreams and goals in 2023 or at least take a huge leap closer. 😁

It’s ADHD Awareness Month!

ADHD is just one of the many reasons some people struggle to declutter or get organised the ‘traditional’ way. Often trying hard and succeeding in the short term, but it’s an ongoing, uphill battle.

Even if you think ADHD doesn’t relate to you, have a look into it this month. Search ADHD on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, whichever platform is easiest for you. Google ‘best ADHD tests’ and take 2 or 3. Better still take them with someone close to you - partner, parent, child, sibling - because as we all know it’s easy to be blind to our traits. 😉

For many of my clients who have accumulated a lifetime of belongings, it would be just too much to do all at once so I start by going through each room to make it more manageable.

I think of it as stages or levels. This way easy, quick decisions are made, space is created and things that haven’t been seen in years are identified.

This client wasn’t able to physically help but did make all the decisions as to what could go. Seeing and feeling the positive changes helps clients move on to the next stage with more confidence.

Here’s an example of one session (about three and a half hours).

I love this plant pot but I have no idea why I still have this plant. I can’t even tell what it is anymore! It’s safe to say that it’s definitely beyond the recovery stage yet it’s still on my window sill. Does anyone else do this? Is it just to remind ourselves that we shouldn’t get any more plants? Tell me I’m not alone on this one. Please show me your dead plant photos! We could have a ritual ‘chucking’ of them…although I’m keeping the pot!

I got this message and photos from a friend the other day and had to share it with you (with her permission of course). She’s used tubs and drawer separators to keep things together in her kitchen drawer and storage tubs to keep her lids and tubs together so they’re easy to grab when needed. Take a look at the photo in Comments for inspiration on useful, reuseable kitchen items.

“I thought I’d sort out my kitchens ‘useful things’ drawer after our chat the other day and looking at some of your Facebook posts. Totally loved how it turned out so had a go at the Tupperware cupboard too. I feel so much better! Everything I need is right there when I open the drawer now and there’s no more searching for the right lid for a tub. Thank you thank you thank you!”

Get Creative!

My upstairs landing area has a great space to keep things I want easy access to, however I don’t want to look at ‘stuff’ every time I go upstairs to get something or go to bed. Solution? Net curtains! They’re sheer enough that I can tell what’s behind them without it looking messy and they prevent any sun damage from the Velux window opposite.

If you’re struggling for a storage solution why not ask a friend or a professional Declutterer for help? A second pair of eyes is a great way to get fresh ideas and inspiration for your home.
