Isla has been struggling with mental health for a long time. She has very kindly allowed us to share her story.
During support for her mental health, Isla has found talking about her struggles difficult. Her confidence and self-esteem have been really low at times which has led to a stay in hospital away from her family, friends and her beloved dancing. Isla has a passion for dance, music, musical theatre and song writing. She has found it is easier for her to express how she is feeling through writing music rather than talking it through.
With the support from The Archie Foundation, Isla was able to secure funding to attend The Music Shed Inverness and record an original emotive song about her experiences of living with mental health for many years. We have been told it was incredible to see her confidence grow as she recorded each version of the song in the studio. Sam from the Music Shed was very supportive and helped Isla settle into her first experience of recording.
Isla produced a beautiful and very personal song which she is very proud of. Isla expressed gratitude to the Archie Foundation and The Music Shed for supporting her with this part of her journey.
We couldn't help children like Isla without the amazing support we receive from you, our incredible supporters. From donating money, attending events, taking on challenges and even engaging with us on social media, your help is invaluable to us all. Thank you
