a BIG Thank you incoming...
On Saturday 29th we tried something new- The Listening Lounge. 12 members of our community each shared a song that connected thenm to home/heritage, and shared the story that made that connection.
Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Chile, Ghana, Ecuador, Brasil, Kenya, Egypt and more- rich stories, and beautiful music.
We then welcomed a nice big crowd into the one Touch Theatre for a DJ set that started in Lagos '76 and moved through eras and sounds right up to the present day, in tribute to Eden Court Theatre and Cinema's 50th birthday, and the community around us that has brought new sounds and stories to enrich our lives.
None of this would be possible alone. To the amazing team at Eden Court, thank you for always supporting us, and never getting scared of our big ideas. 8 years we have been working together and your support has meant the world.
To Rosie for stepping up to host this event and giving your time and spirit to those around you. To Mya and the ACAHMA community, for all the work you do in supporting people, and supporting others to get involved. To all the storytellers at the event, for giving your time and stepping on stage to share with us.THANK YOU to all.
And to those of you who have come to any or all of our events this summer, this only works with you. We're about more than music, and we hope that you can feel that too. In such times of intolerance and hate, the dancefloor is a sacred space to hold joy and connect, but that alone doesn't change things unless we carry that spirit of coming together into our work, our relationships, our everyday choices, words, deeds and actions.
Let's keep growing together and holding space for joy, connection, and learning from each other - The sound the world makes is a beautiful thing.
