Week 8 of missing Lochgilphead and particularly the folks at the Snowdrop Argyll Snowdrop Centre… you guys have been so good to us!!
These are some photos I used in my proposal to start an art group inspired by the Wednesday group at the centre. Because online it is not the same thing 😭 thank you so much for welcoming both me and baby Frieda, we felt at home and with family. Karen, Claire, Lorraine, Morag, Isobel, Donna, Myra, Phyllis, Kara, Roxy, Susan, Sabrina my fellow Italian vegan of course… you are such a wonderful bunch - sorry if I’m forgetting anyone 🥴 and of course Margaret. The time in Lochgilphead will stay in my heart because of all of you ❤️

It has been quite interesting, with lots of lessons already. I try to sit with the discomfort, and make space for contrasting emotions to coexist… Optimism and hopelessness. Joy and despair. Gratitude and grief.

I’m beyond grateful for this opportunity to create art for a good cause. This gannet head I made has been a valuable prompt in several demonstrations, to push back capitalistic aims that are harming our precious wildlife. I see it every now an then popping out in different news outlets, including the Guardian a little while ago. I made it using an old cyclist helmet that was otherwise going to landfill, and cardboard/ paper mache.
