📢 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 📢
‼️ There will be no event in 2027 ‼️
⬇️ Please read ⬇️
Hi, Chloe here, face behind this page!
Can we start off by saying a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us to make this years event a success, we truly appreciate each and every one of you.
As our Saturday Swing Dance attendees know already, our lovely Lainey gave a speech to let everyone know that, after 20 years, we need a break. So, next year there will be no event while we take stock and prioritise our own lives (as this event has taken over them entirely for the past few years)!
2026 has been a difficult year to pull off. Relocation, ill health from what felt like all of our team members this year (with far too many trips to doctors & hospitals 🙈), the usual rising expenses, more paperwork & hoops to jump through... Somehow as a team we pulled through & still hosted a successful (albeit different) event. I couldn't be prouder of our team (especially Lainey) for pulling it off, despite the odds being stacked against us!
As you all know we are a small team anyway, and this year myself & Lainey have done most of the organising (Lainey doing 99% of the graft). Our trusty team & regular helpers rock up to every fundraiser, then on the weekend they set up, clean up, change over, run the bar, sell raffle tickets, work the door at dances, make butties & brews... I can't even list all of the jobs we do over the course of a year, but it's a lot. And it's exhausting.
Lainey & myself have discussed at length what we could do & how we can do things, but quite frankly, we are too drained! So we came to the conclusion we need a year to decide where the future will take us.
Right now we still have bills to pay & accounts to go through, so we will still be plodding on behind the scenes as always.
We want you all to know how much we appreciate all the support you give this event (& our team). We truly feel like we have life long friends & our own "40's family". From regular attendees, to new visitors, our singers, bands & DJ, our amazing helpers who turn up and work their backsides off for nothing but our eternal gratitude; we love you all!
Extra special thanks this year go to: Jayne (for keeping me sane on Friday), Tom, Chloë & Lola-Rose (my amazing "Regiment" staff), Cory, Jess, Johnny, Tony, Denise, Helen, Yvonne, Francis, Ruby & Seth (who have been our van drivers, sign hangers, buttie & brew makers, parade recruiter, bunting hangers, hall decorators, raffle helpers & any other task they could lend a hand with)
🎵 In the words of Vera Lyn "We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll meet again some sunny day" 🎵
With love from Chloe, Lainey & the 1940s Team x
