πŸ’› Keeping Ingleton Gala Alive – It Takes a Village πŸ’›

Over the last few weeks, we’ve shared just a small glimpse of what goes into making Ingleton Gala happen.

From the months of planning, organising and fundraising, to the people who set up the field, run the stalls, marshal the parade, organise the races, provide entertainment, donate prizes, sell raffle tickets and give their time on the day...

It really does take a village.

And while we love seeing everyone enjoying Gala Day, we also know how much work happens behind the scenes to keep this wonderful tradition going.

Over recent years, we’ve sadly seen some of our much-loved village events come to an end, including Sheafstock, and the 1940s weekend being scaled back. It’s a reminder that events like these don’t happen by themselves β€” they need people willing to give their time, energy and ideas.

The Gala Girls are still here, and we’re not ready to give up yet! πŸ’ͺπŸ’›

Between running our own businesses, family life and everything else that comes along, we’ll keep doing everything we can to make sure Ingleton Gala continues.

But we need more hands on deck.

You don’t need to commit to everything. You don’t need to be available every week. Even an hour or two helping with planning, setting up, selling tickets, sharing ideas or lending a hand on Gala Day can make a huge difference.

New faces bring new ideas, new energy and help make sure Gala stays part of village life for years to come.

If you’ve ever thought, β€œI’d love to help but don’t know where to start” β€” come and have a chat with us.

We’d love to welcome you into the Gala team. Just ping us a message here

Because Ingleton Gala belongs to everyone. πŸ’›

πŸŽͺ🚌⚽ More fantastic Gala floats! ⚽🚌πŸŽͺ

We had a huge number of float entries in this year's parade, and the creativity on show was absolutely brilliant.

Our congratulations go to:

πŸ₯ˆ 2nd Place – The Circus πŸŽͺ
A whole circus on wheels, complete with popcorn sellers, clowns, mime artists and elephants β€” and of course, a fantastic flagged Big Top!

πŸ₯‰ 3rd Place – Bibby's on Ingleton 🚌
Celebrating an incredible 70 years on the road, this brilliant entry featured real curtains and windows giving passengers a great view of the Yorkshire Dales as they travelled through the village.

πŸ… 4th Place – World Cup ⚽
Bringing plenty of football fever to the parade!

A huge well done to all our winners, and an even bigger THANK YOU to every single person who took the time to build, decorate, dress up and bring a float along this year.

With so many entries, the parade was a real spectacle β€” and it's the people who put the time and effort in behind the scenes that make it so special.

Thank you for helping make this year's Ingleton Gala parade one to remember! πŸ’›πŸŽ‰

What a beautiful creation!

A whole enchanted world made up of pixies, toadstools, fairies, ladybirds, butterflies and flowers, all brought together to create a truly magical float.

The time, imagination and effort that went into this was clear for everyone to see, and it was a very worthy winner of the Float category. πŸŒΈπŸ¦‹πŸ„

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in creating The Fairies β€” you certainly brought a little bit of magic to Ingleton Gala! ✨

And a massive thank you to everyone who entered a float this year. The standard was fantastic, and seeing so many wonderful creations making their way through the village made the parade extra special. πŸ’›

You certainly couldn't miss the Scouts in this year's parade!

πŸ₯‡ 1st Place – The Scouts 🐿️🐿️🐿️

Those giant inflatable squirrels had us smiling all the way along the route β€” and they certainly lived up to their Comic category win!

In fact, they were so committed to the comedy that, just as we went to present their certificate, one of the squirrels decided it had had enough and started to deflate! πŸ«£πŸ˜‚

We couldn't have scripted it better!

A huge congratulations to the Scouts and a massive well done to everyone who entered the Comic category. Thank you for bringing so much fun and laughter to our parade. πŸ’›

And Scouts... keep up the great work! πŸ˜‰πŸΏοΈ

Our Original category certainly lived up to its name this year!

πŸ₯‡ 1st Place – β€œHappy Birthday David Attenborough” πŸŽ‚πŸŒΏ

What a fantastic entry! A mini motorised truck transformed into a wonderful wildlife adventure, complete with all kinds of animals.

It was creative, colourful and certainly caught everyone's attention as it made its way through the parade. A brilliant idea and very deserving of the top spot! πŸ‘πŸ†

A huge congratulations to our winner and a massive well done to everyone who entered our parade. We loved seeing all the creativity and imagination on show.

Thank you for helping make this year's parade so wonderfully original! πŸ’›πŸŽ‰

There was plenty of magic in this year's parade, with some fantastic group entries making their way through the village!

The children from Kidz brought their own brand of prehistoric fun to the parade and looked absolutely fantastic!

A huge congratulations to our winners, and a massive well done to everyone who took part. The imagination, creativity and effort that goes into these entries makes the Gala parade so much fun.

Thank you for helping fill the village with magic, dinosaurs and plenty of smiles! πŸ’›πŸŽ‰

πŸ’› It really does take a village... πŸ’›

When people arrive at Ingleton Gala, they see the colourful parade, the entertainment, the stalls, the food, the races and the smiles.

What they don’t always see is the months of planning, organising, scheduling and behind-the-scenes work that goes into making it all happen.

Then, as Gala Day gets closer, the pace really steps up!

There are banners to put out, raffle tickets to sell, marquees to build, equipment to move and a thousand little jobs that need doing before the big day arrives.

A huge thank you to Jayne Lis and the Community Centre team for allowing us to use the stage for the crowning of our Gala King, as well as providing tables and chairs for the stalls and arena.

Thank you also to our Sports Field team, Mike Beeforth and Simon Brown, for all their help getting the field ready and making sure everything was set up perfectly.

The Gala Girls and our other halves take time away from our own jobs, families and busy lives to help make Gala Day come together.

It's always a brilliant team effort, full of laughs, problem-solving and the occasional moment of "how on earth do we put this together?!" πŸ˜‚

Sarah Beeforth has admitted that marquee construction and logic puzzles may not be her strongest skill, while Simon Robinson is convinced it was all down to the instructions!

Together with Liz Holman, there was one phrase heard more than once:
"Once we get the first triangle made, it'll all make sense..." πŸ€”

Thankfully, it did! The Bar Marquee and Gala Tent were up and ready in record time. πŸŽͺπŸ‘

πŸŽͺ🚜🎺 What a parade! 🎺🚜πŸŽͺ

The Ingleton Gala parade was absolutely fabulous this year, with some fantastic new floats joining our much-loved favourites.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped bring the parade to life. From circus performers and fairies to trucks, tractors and our tiniest little tots β€” there really was something for everyone! 🌟

We'd also like to say a huge thank you to Bentham Fire Crew, who safely led the parade through the village, and to our Gala safety truck bringing up the rear, driven by David Holman .

The parade travelled from the New Village, through Burnmoor and along Main Street before arriving at the Sports Field, where the celebrations continued.

Of course, a parade like this doesn't just happen by itself. A massive thank you to our marshals:
Jack Robinson, Owen Holman , Howard Evans , Simon Robinson , Mick luther, Sam Perkins , Matt Townson and Janice Howson.

Coordinating both a vehicle parade and a walking parade, starting from two different locations, is no mean feat β€” but what a fantastic job everyone did.

To every person who built a float, dressed up, waved from the roadside, helped keep everyone safe or cheered the parade along... thank you.

You made Gala Day feel truly special. πŸ’›

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ›°οΈ A huge thank you for our Mountain Race!

One of the highlights of Ingleton Gala is always the famous Mountain Race, and this year it was bigger than ever with a record number of runners taking on the challenge!

It was a real pleasure to share the day with Martyn Price from Settle Harriers, who hosted the race and helped make sure everything ran so smoothly. A huge thank you to Martyn, Settle Harriers and all the volunteers, marshals and supporters who gave their time to make this such a fantastic event.

As the fourth race in the Yorkshire Dales Classics series, there was plenty of excitement this year, with many wondering if the long-standing course record of 44:15, set by Mark Croasdale (Lancaster & Morecambe AC) 35 years ago, might finally be beaten.

It wasn't to be this year, but the challenge continues!

Congratulations to the overall winner Chris Holdsworth, who completed the course in an impressive 48:40.

A special mention goes to our local champions:
πŸ† Hannah Siler (Settle Harriers), who retained the women's local trophy once again.
πŸ† Andrew McLeod (unattached), who couldn't have been much more local, living just around the corner from the start line!

We'd also like to say a huge shout out to , who kindly sponsor the trophies for the first local man and first local woman home each year. After a long search for the missing women's trophy, Inglesport generously stepped in and provided a brand new replacement. Now that's community spirit!

Well done everyone involved. πŸ’›
