Love the Blues? Then you are in for a real treat next Saturday, 19th September. The legendary Texan Blues Guitarist Van Wilks is coming to the Millhouse in Ilminster for a FREE gig.

Not only that, but we are stepping up, and our Somerset Millhousian musical community is lending their services and instruments to Van to perform. Local talent plays alongside a Texan blues great (endorsed by Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top: "The playing technique Van possesses is remarkable - great style and a very Texas-tasteful approach".

Join us on Friday 21st August and experience sublime, classical Indian music in our Somerset grassroots gem - Ricky Romain plays sitar at the Millhouse, Ilminster.

South West-based Ricky has studied and performed Indian classical music for over fifty years, he trained under a direct disciple of Ravi Shankar and has performed across the UK and Europe ever since.

His work crosses boundaries: collaborations with jazz, rock, folk, world and Western classical musicians; school and community arts projects; and a parallel career as a visual artist exhibited widely across the UK and Europe. The free improvisation in his performances typically evolves from a slow, contemplative opening and unfolds into complex rhythmic interplay, haunting, captivating and alive.

The sitar's signature sound, rich with overtone and ornamentation, fills a room in a way that few instruments can match: intimate enough to hear every nuance, yet vast enough to hold an audience completely still. The Millhouse's stone walls and Victorian character make it a natural home for the sitar, warm, resonant, and free of amplification.
