The Ariel's community music video collaboration project currently features: steel pans, drummers, basses, a full horn section, acoustic guitars, electric guitars, 12 string guitars and vocalists. There's still time to get involved 😃

Voice actor wanted:

We are searching for a male voice to read a small part to be included in a soundscape for a visitor attraction project. We need someone who has an authentic North Devon accent, aged 50 and upwards. The character is a priest who is reciting the last rites to a dying person.

It is a paid job. We would need an audition piece that can be recorded via Phone or similar. If we can find someone, the session will be at the Ariel with the client directing remotely.

Timescale obviously depends on suitable applicants and availability, the sooner the better but definitely before the end of this month.

Last call for Rock and Roll!

Calling all Ariel Users! We need you to get involved in the Ariel Community Music Video Collaboration.

There's still time to get involved in the Ariel Video Collaboration of "Rocking in the Free World - open to all Ariel user, new or old, rehearsal or studio users - if you would like to play on our video collaboration comment below or send a message.

We want as many people involved as possible, drums, bass, guitar, ukulele, piano, keys, vocals, kazoo, percussion, steel pans, what ever you play, we want your performance. There is scope for solos, group sections, chords, rhythm parts, or some percussion, get involved! You'll record your part at home, (socially distanced of-course), we can give you help with the technicality of producing your part.

In this strange and unusual time, we aren't allowed to rehearse or play live gigs, but we can produce an Ariel Video Collaboration: so that we can all keep on Rockin' in the Free World.

We are putting together an Ariel Users version of "Rockin' in the Free World" by Neil Young (it seemed appropriate) - open to all Ariel user, new or old, rehearsal or studio users, if you would like to play on our video collaboration comment below or send a message. Some photos of the Ariel from 1958, when the building was a ship to shore radio station.

Ilfracombe Radio opened in January 1958 replacing Burnham Radio/GRL for the short-range service in the Bristol Channel. It closed in 1986 but the building is still in use. A mock-up of a GIL console can be seen at the Ilfracombe Museum. These photographs taken in 1958.
