Welcome to the Military Wives Choirs network Katie ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŽถ

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Katie McEwan as the new Chief Executive Officer of Military Wives Choirs.
Katie joins the charity at an exciting point in its journey, as we look ahead to our 15th anniversary and continue to strengthen our support for women across the military community through singing, connection and belonging.
A singer herself, Katie brings a lifelong passion for music alongside more than 17 yearsโ€™ leadership experience across strategy, operations, governance, brand, communications, and organisational change. She has held senior roles across both the commercial and charity sectors, including Ann Summers and Acting CEO at Cancer Awareness Trust.
Katie also brings direct experience of community music-making. She is the Musical and Creative Director of a contemporary community choir in Essex and has a deep understanding of the role singing can play in building confidence, friendship, resilience, and a sense of identity.

Caroline Paxton, Chair of Trustees, said:
โ€œWe are thrilled to welcome Katie as our new CEO. The role requires a rare blend of strategic leadership, operational grip, emotional intelligence, musical understanding, and strong stakeholder management - and Katie brings all of this in abundance.
Her experience across strategy, culture, governance and brand, combined with her genuine belief in the power of singing and community, makes her ideally placed to lead Military Wives Choirs into its next chapter.โ€

Katie McEwan said:
โ€œI am incredibly proud to be joining Military Wives Choirs as CEO. This is a very special charity with a powerful legacy, an extraordinary network of choirs, and a unique role in supporting women across the military community.
I have seen first-hand how singing can create confidence, connection and belonging, and I am excited to work with our members, volunteers, staff, trustees, and partners to build on everything the charity has achieved and help shape its next phase.โ€

Please join us in giving Katie a very warm welcome to Military Wives Choirs.

Happy 100th birthday Gerald ๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‰

On Wednesday we had the absolute honour to put on a little concert for a Royal Navy Veteran called Gerald who turned 100 years young and also happens to be the Father of Gerry one of our lovely Sop 1โ€™s. Our MD Matt did a โ€˜This is your Lifeโ€™ and what an honour and a privilege it was to sing for him but also for him to share his life stories with us. He shared about having to walk over 4 1/2 miles per day at the tender age of 4 to go to school and how he wished he had carried on learning to play the piano. He talked about his time overseas when based in the Fleet Air Arm branch of the Royal Navy where he would be away from home for over 2 years, he did say that on one of his oversea postings he was lucky enough to be joined by his dear wife and how he got to meet Sir Richard Attenborough. We also got to see his birthday card from King Charles, The Royal Family.

Hannah sang the solo of โ€˜Weโ€™ll Meet Againโ€™ by Dame Vera Lynn and two of our talented bakers Gail and Caroline made us some yummy cakes to help him celebrate!

Please do join with us to wish him a very Happy 100th Birthday!!

๐Ÿ’Ÿ MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK ๐Ÿ’Ÿ

Choir singing is more than a creative outlet for the Military Wives Choirs - itโ€™s a source of connection, comfort, and wellbeing. ๐ŸŽถ

Military life can be unpredictable and isolating, but singing together creates a supportive space where women feel understood, uplifted, and less alone. ๐Ÿซ‚

Hear from our members about what this means for them โฌ‡๏ธ

This is what Sing. Share. Support. means in practice. A weekly rehearsal. A room full of women who get it. ๐Ÿ’œ
