Hi everyone
I wanted to have a little honest chat with you all about some upcoming price changes.
From April 1st, there will be a small increase in our postage costs. This is mainly due to Royal Mail putting their prices up, alongside big increases in the cost of boxes and packaging.
We’ve actually spent a huge amount this past month bulk-buying pallets of boxes to try and keep costs as low as possible—but even doing that, we’re paying more per box than ever before.
Just to reassure you, we always subsidise postage and never make money from it, and we’ll still be offering free 2nd class shipping on orders over £50
I know it can feel frustrating paying postage on a small order (especially if you just need a quick replacement), but the reality is those orders take just as much time to pick and pack, and we’re charged the same rate our end whether it’s a £5 order or a £50 one.
We also need to be open about material costs, as these have increased a lot recently.
Over the last week, we’ve spent thousands stocking up on MDF and acrylic—literally pallet after pallet—to try and secure the best prices we can. Even then:
MDF has already gone up by around 15%
Acrylic is expected to rise well over 10%
Our suppliers have been amazing and have given us a heads up where they can, but their own costs are constantly changing due to demand, global issues, and supply challenges. Unfortunately, those increases do get passed down the chain.
We’ve done everything possible to soften the impact by buying in bulk (to the point we genuinely can’t fit any more in Stuart’s room! ), but over the next month you will start to see some product prices increase.
It’s not just materials either—like many small businesses, our running costs have gone up across the board. Wages, sick pay, utilities, rent, rates… everything has crept up, and it’s getting harder to absorb those costs.
Over the last couple of years, we’ve worked really hard to keep prices as low as possible by:
-Streamlining how we cut and produce items
-Cutting out time-heavy custom work
-Producing in bulk and holding stock
-Investing in materials upfront
But we’ve reached a point now where we can’t tweak things any further to absorb these increases.
I completely understand that everyone is feeling the pinch right now—we are too.
We’ve invested heavily into the business to keep things going, and with so many suppliers and small businesses sadly closing, it’s something we do worry about.
So genuinely, thank you for every order, every share, every kind word—you’re the reason we’re still here
We really hope you’ll continue to stick with us and support our little family business through this next chapter. It means more than you know.
