Hi creative ladies! 👋 Our studio’s first collaboration between art and interior design was a success — and now you can create your own one-of-a-kind hand-dyed silk lampshade, designed especially for your home.

Last Sunday, Huntly Silk Painting Studio joined forces with interior designer Sadie for our very first Hand-Painted Silk Lampshade Workshop.
Our participants began with plain silk, explored colour and silk-painting techniques, and then transformed their own paintings into finished lampshades.

We did run about an hour later than originally planned — there was rather more involved than we expected for our first session! But seeing everyone leave the studio smiling, carrying a lampshade they had designed, painted and made themselves, made the extra time feel very worthwhile.
And the workshop didn’t really finish at the studio.

Over the following days, participants sent us photographs of their lampshades at home. It was wonderful to see each piece lit up and settling into its new surroundings — each one completely different, and now a very personal finishing touch to the room.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first session, and especially for sharing your photographs afterwards. And a big thank you to Sadie Interior Inspirations for making this first silk painting × interior design collaboration possible.
