HDC say they have been given this pot of money by the government for "regeneration". They've already spent £500k on a project that isn't even in planning yet.

Here's your regeneration project right here. The town becomes a swimming pool with rain like this and it wasn't long ago that they shut the high street down to do work on it.

Fix the gutters, the potholes, the river on our high street and then maybe you can think about ripping down our essential infrastructure.

To deny us these regenerations is to deny us the basics. The ignore our wishes is to ignore us as people.

I cannot overstate my anger at the council and the shame I feel to have them as my governing body.

Either this demolition plan goes ahead with a slightly different plan and we lose or the demolition plan is stopped and they have still spent 500k on some drawings

I have a big thank you to give these guys!

It was such a nice surprise to come to work and see the street looking clean and bright. They were out there until nearly 2AM making St Benedict's Court look good.

I love seeing this type of work getting done and the guys that are out there doing it absolutely deserve to hear our appreciation, but we're all usually in bed.

I think this kind of thing is really important to talk about.

HDC have already spent around £500k of taxpayer money on this project and signed the contracts in July 2025. We found out about this last week.

I want to spread the word as much as possible so join the conversation.
