Over 70 smoothies pedalled at Thatcham KidsFest yesterday with 🍌 🍌 rescued from The Co-op (which considered them too imperfect to sell).

Thanks to Thatcham Town Council for inviting us and to Sheepdrove Organic Farm & Green Events Venue for helping us purchase the bike.

Our team ran a tasty lunch cook-along with Berkshire Youth at the recent Greenham Community Centre Fun Day.

Menu: Rainbow Bean Burgers, Falafel (chickpea burgers), Frittata & coleslaw - served in buns and pitta bread.

Prep team: local kids and families supported by HFC cooks

Verdict: yummy - even from families who didn't think they liked chickpeas.

We're a bit obsessed with rescuing 🍌🍌 mainly from supermarkets. We put them in everything from smoothies to chutney.

Top tip: freeze whole banana in skin. Defrost. Cut off one end and squeeze out flesh. No sticky mess.

Fun cooking session in Lambourn today with lovely families making frittata, pitta bread pizzas, quesadilla and sweet potato pizza twists.

Also banana, mango & strawberry smoothies on our smoothie bike...
