Here's the flyer for our next solo exhibition at Bulb Contemporary, the brilliant Icons of Glam, Punk and Rock by artist David Worth. David Worth is John Lydon's favourite cartoonist and he recently had an exhibition in LA curated by legendary Taquila Mockingbird. His work hangs in The Rainbow (Lemmy's favourite bar). This is one seriously COOL show.

There is still time to see Andrew Crane's Plastered; ramblings in cement and other things, an exquisite collection of work by the enigmatic artist. Crane's art is beautifully intriguing and aesthetically stunning - you really do have to see it to appreciate the texture and depth. Runs until Feb 11th.

Attentions photography fans, on Feb 13th (Sat) at 2pm, we will be hosting the preview of our Joint Exhibition of work by extraordinarily talented photojournalist Jim Mortram and his equally impressive father (Pa) D A Mortram. The exhibition runs for 1 month and all monies raised from sales will go to Smalltown Inertia to help keep this admirable work funded.

'Small Town Inertia' is a long form documentary and environmental portraiture series concerning itself with the real life stories of several people within a three mile radius within my local community in Dereham, East Anglia in the UK.

I entered into the series with the notion that everyone has a story and with a desire to afford a voice to those that often have no platform to communicate their story. Themes have varied from person and situation. I've reported about isolation, poverty, drug abuse, homelessness, self harm, mental illness, juvenile crime, epilepsy though for myself the over riding experience has been one of endurance in spite of the impossible walls life often presents to us. Walls that box us in, walls that separate us, walls to climb to be set free.

The selection of images is a brief look within these documented lives. Lives lived in the now. Lives lived within times of much change. As the cultural, political and economic landscape changes these stories depict the final destination for the results of many of those high up and far away decisions and influences.

These photographs and supporting stories depict the full stop of the Welfare State cuts, Housing Benefit cuts, Health cuts, loopholes and failures of systems and what happens when the heart of a community is slowly eroded. They also depict the lives of those hanging on, bowed yet not broken, of lives where a fight to survive is very real. Fighting apathy, addiction, fighting loneliness, illness all the while clinging to self respect, adrift in the community, in life, but not yet lost.

J A Mortram January, 2016

After attending a short course in black and white photography at Norwich Art's Centre and shooting with cheap, second hand cameras and kit, D A Mortram 'Gabby' documented the live independent music scene between 1988 and 1996.

Chronicling the last hurrah of the true 'indie scene', documenting the crowds, bands and music from the U.K and U.S.A at weekly concerts that were held in small music venues, including the famous 'Wilde Club' nights at the Norwich Art's Centre in East Anglia.

Printing and developing himself at home, these negatives and prints have remained unseen for over 20 years.

We are hugely excited to be preparing to exhibit the work of Jim Mortram, talented photo journalist and social documentor. Famous for providing a voice for those who find themselves marginalised by today's society in his Smalltown Inertia series, Mortram will here be exhibiting jointly with his father, who captured the indie musicians of the 80s and 90s with the original equipment of the time. Bulb is very proud to exhibit this work and to ensure that, in this case, ALL proceeds from sales will be retained by the artists in order to help sustain Smalltown Inertia and the everyday kindness and committment of the artist to helping others.
