Picnic in the Park Update
Weβve had loads of messages from people asking if this event is still going ahead.
We certainly hope so! However there will be a few changes.
Members of St Jamesβs Church have kindly said that the live music can take place in the church if necessary. (Approximate timetable for the bands below)
One or 2 stalls have had to cancel, which is completely understandable. Some of them are going to squeeze in available shelters.
Tea and coffee will be on sale in the church.
The ground is soaking up the rain quite well at the moment, itβs not waterlogged, so itβs possible to move around outside, although, as with all outdoor events, please take care!
You might prefer to bring an umbrella rather than a picnic blanket, or you could pretend youβre at Glastonbury and bring wellies and bin liners, the choice is yours! There will be plenty of lovely stalls, music and activities, so please support our popular community event!
Thank you!
Live music timetable.
(All times are approximate)
12 - 12.45 Mustard County Band
1 - 1.45 Meltham Community Band
1.45 - 2.15 Meltham Ukulele Group
2.30 Tim Szoradi
This Saturday!
Weβve got a fabulous day planned, so keep your fingers crossed for fine weather.
There will be several stalls, selling handmade arts and crafts, plants, cakes and sweets, etc, plus Tombola and raffles.
Refreshments will be on sale, including Bewleys Coffee in St Jamesβs Church, Dixonβs Ice Cream Van and 3 Fiends Beer. There are lots of free activities, such as games, sports and face painting.
Members of Yorkshire Air Ambulance will be attending and local groups such as Probus, the Shoebox Team, Meltham Walkers are Welcome, Make Meltham Sparkle and Meltham Chess Club will be there too.
David Brown Tractors will also be joining us!
Thereβs live music throughout the afternoon, provided by Meltham and Meltham Mills Band, Mustard County Band, Tim Szoradi and the Ukelele Group.
You and your family can have a lovely afternoon without having to spend much money⦠just bring a picnic and a blanket, or chairs to sit on and enjoy all the free fun.
Thereβs even an Art exhibition, with art from the Meltham Hive Competition and the beautiful Summer Flags will be on display too.
Thereβs limited parking, but there will be a regular bus service, thanks to Cllr David Haigh for the details;
both the 324 bus and the 933 local south Pennine bus run past the park, the 933 departs Morrisons 44 minutes past the hour from 0944 to 1544 and runs via heather road and Calm lands to the bus stop at the rear of the park on Meltham mills road THEN RUNS ONTO HUDDERSFIELD ROAD and stops at the bus top near the park entrance about 55 past the hour arriving in Meltham on the hour, last departure to Meltham at 1555."
