My Story: Part Two
After nearly 4 years of distance, healing, understanding, releasing and developing a new mindset, I've built my way up out of rock bottom and can be grateful for everything my darkest moments continue to teach me. β€οΈ Now I am my biggest passion, constantly discovering what lights a fire in my belly and trying my best to make time and take responsibility for my happiness. In doing so I found myself able to align with dance once more, in a way that honoured my souls desires. Fuelled from a place of love and aspiration, I found myself dancing more, hunting for music that inspired me and a little seed began to grow after my mama passed a comment about me setting up a class.
But one hurdle does inevitably lead to another, one that unfortunately resonates globally. Body image.
My once toned and smaller body has become softer, luscious and curvy, this is a journey I am still growing with and is a big reason I wanted to start this class. I want to create dance with a different resounding message. One where vulnerability is valued, all body shapes are embraced and all abilities are celebrated. Dance is a magnificent tool for happiness, confidence, releasing any pent up stress and so much more! This will be what fuels all of my classes, from a place of love and understanding. β€οΈ
I have learnt so much I want to share and I hope if any of you wonderful people joining me struggle with anything regarding body image and acceptance, that you'll feel free and confident to embrace your beauty with me while we channel our inner Beyonce. ππ½
After all, I am just another human being. I'm natural and normal and special in my own unique way- just like YOU. And I have created this space for us all to be confident individuals, owning and accepting of our wonderful bodies, identities, journeys and abilities.
In my class, you can expect me to be an occasional goofball, to make mistakes when I'm giving you all my sass (teehee!), to get super excited when you give me your sexiest hair whip and to be absolutely open to any feedback you wish to share. I really want this class to be a welcoming space for you and for me, if there is ever anything you feel would improve the class or you would like to share in general I would love to hear it! π
