New work by Chris Harrison...

Chris' new 'Elements' series is a meditation on the unseen energies that shape our world. Beginning with base elements in his materials, colours drift, textures gather like minerals, and forms collide, dissolve, and reform as the collage takes shape.

"As I work, these visual elements attract, repel, collide, dissolve and reform. I don't plan the outcome; I follow the process until the parts settle into a charged, resolved whole, forming an iconic presence.

"Echoing the mystery of atomic chemistry, the series reflects that everything in the extraordinary reality we inhabit-solid or fleeting, earthly or luminous-begins with elemental forces combining to create something exquisite."

Each work combines colour, texture, shape, movement, and occasional photographic fragments which are reworked and rediscovered until he arrives at an image.

New work from Nigel Lambert...

Nigel's slip-decorated wood-fired earthenware is both ornamental and functional.

The pots are thrown on a kick wheel or hand built from flat sheets of clay, cut and re-formed into oval and square forms. They are then dipped in a white clay slip, dried, and coated with green, amber and clear glazes. This produces a flat surface on which the blue oxides are painted, with new and old brushes, and odd bits of sponge, string and grass.

Nigel's love of pottery and paintings began whilst at art college in Cornwall. His interest in the work of abstract painters has influenced his ceramics and the decorative marks he makes.
