Borja Gómez-Ferrer, tenor, makes his Holmfirth debut. Recent operatic roles include Alfred, Fledermaus under David Syrus for Gold Opera, Turiddu, Cavalleria Rusticana at the Reform Club and Leeds, Pollione, Norma for Aylesbury Opera and Mario Cavaradossi, Tosca for Everybody Can.

Phillipa Thomas, Dorabella, in last year's production of Così fan tutte, is returning to Holmfirth for this performance. Recent solo engagements include Bach's Cantata No.48 (RPO under Ben Pope), Duruflé's Requiem (Bristol Choral Society under Hilary Campbell) and Mahler’s Symphony No.2 (Kings College, Cambridge, under Stephen Cleobury). Phillipa has recently finished recording alto solos for numerous oratorios as part of a project with the professional ensemble Blossom Street Singers.

Loretta Hopkins, soprano, our Fiordiligi in 2018, is our soprano for this performance. Loretta Hopkins studied music at The University of Edinburgh and Birmingham Conservatoire, where she gained a postgraduate diploma, generously supported by The South Square Trust, and continues to train with Raymond Connell. In competition, Loretta was the winner of The University of Edinburgh's Tovey Memorial Prize and finalist in Birmingham Conservatoire’s Mario Lanza Prize and Vienna Conservatoire's Internationale Sommerakademie opera prize.

Our harpist, Alice Kirwan - Harpist is best known for her dynamic and adventurous exploration of the harp. Since graduating with a Masters in performance from the Royal Northern College of Music, she regularly works with orchestras and ensembles including the Manchester Concert Orchestra (Raymond Gubbay Ltd.), National Symphony Orchestra, and Sinfonia Cymru performing at venues such as The Bridgewater Hall and Sage Gateshead.

Our flautist, Anna Rosa Mari is a vibrant performer, sought after as a recitalist, chamber and orchestral musician. Her performance schedule has taken her to prestigious venues around the world; from Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall to concert halls across Europe, India and Egypt, playing as soloist with the European Union Chamber Orchestra.

Our trumpeter, Anthony Thompson, enjoys a successful career as a soloist and as an orchestral musician. He has played frequently (including performances as guest principal trumpet) with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, C.B.S.O., the Hallé, Manchester Camerata, Manchester Concert Orchestra, Northern Chamber Orchestra, New European Orchestra and the Royal Northern Sinfonia.

He is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland & the Royal Northern College of Music, and is in demand as an orchestral, chamber and session player.

She performed onstage in the National Theatre’s acclaimed production of Amadeus in and recorded for the soundtrack of National Theatre’s Angels in America. She was principal oboe of the Madeira Classical Orchestra and has performed with London Contemporary Orchestra, English Touring Opera, London Concertante, Chroma Ensemble, Multi-story Orchestra & Southern Sinfonia.

We're excited to be bringing a chamber orchestra of talented professionals from across the North West to Holmfirth Civic Hall on 27th September! www.holmfirthcivichall.co.uk/event/epic-moments The orchestra will be lead by Eleanor Shute - Violinist Born in Hampshire, Eleanor began playing the violin aged 6 and has recently completed her postgraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music where she studied with Pavel Fischer. During her time at RNCM, Eleanor was involved in projects with The Hallé and Manchester Camerata and worked with acclaimed conductors including Sir Mark Elder and Markus Stenz. She now enjoys a busy and varied freelance career involving orchestral work, session work, weddings, as well as teaching. Eleanor also has a keen interest in musical theatre and, since 2017, has been playing with the London Musical Theatre Orchestra at venues such as Cadogan Hall and Hackney Empire.
