Auditions Monday 5 December 2022
Honley Players are holding open auditions for Amanda Whittington’s “Ladies Day”, a comedy about four hard working women from Hull on a day out at the races. The play is set on ladies day 2005 when Royal Ascot moved to York Racecourse, it follows and explores the life of women on a day out in a touching and humorous manner. During their day out their lives cross with 6 very different male characters who’s interactions provide humour as well as an opportunity to expose other sides to the ladies characters. Warm, uplifting and heartfelt, Ladies day is a honest feelgood play, as much fun to act in as to watch.
Female parts, we require 2 women to pass as being aged in mid-40’s to mid-50’s and 2 women being in their mid-20s.
Male parts, there are 6 male parts which can be played by 1 to 6 people. We are looking for a range of actors in age to match the female characters.
Originally, we were going to present Ladies Day back in 2020 sadly this was postponed by covid. Whilst some of the initial cast are still available some have other commitments or have moved away. Hence we are holding the further auditions.
Auditions will start at 7.30 pm everyone welcome, even if you unsure why not come along and see what is involved you may enjoy it. Show dates are 8 to 11 March 2023, rehearshals will start Wed 4 Jan.
If you have any questions please contact me via replying to this email, on our Facebook post or on my mobile 07426416661.

Great turn out for the Panto read through last night.
A massive thank you to all who attended, or expressed an interest.
Please can anyone help us. Southgate theatre are looking for someone with a ground working machine to scrape level the rough ground (under the van in the photo), and then drag down the container and place it in position (it is currently empty).
Not a massive job for a JCB at all. Car park can be kept clear.
Urgent Notice regarding AGM tomorrow night please read.
Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to move the AGM out of the Auditorium. The meeting will now take place downstairs in what was the ladies changing room, please DO NOT enter the auditorium on entering the theatre.
Due to this change the space available will be limited, therefore could we encourage any new members to perhaps attend the Casting read through for the Pantomime on 11th October. Could we also ask as many current members as possible to attend that evening to welcome these new members, show them round the theatre etc and of course join in the read through to make it a really enjoyable evening.
Sorry for this last minute inconvenience and we offer our sincere apologies. We look forward to seeing you at either the AGM (tomorrow) or the Read Through (11 Oct 7.30pm).
Kind regards
Monica Plested
