The Big Stitch 2022

Last chance to see the Big Stitch 2022 quilt at St Mary's church, Castle Road, Scarborough this weekend.
It will be taken down tomorrow evening in preparation for showing at the Festival of Quilts at Birmingham NEC 18th to 21st August.
(Please note we have limited the size of the quilt due to FOQ size restrictions. There will be other venues planned for future viewings of the whole quilt and we'll keep you posted.)

A huge thank you to Richard, Hilary and volunteers for allowing us to exhibit the quilt for this extended period at the church.

The Festival of Quilts is Europe's leading patchwork and quilting event attracting over 25,000 quilters from all over the world.

We finally made it!! Thankyou to every single person for your amazing work!! The finished quilt looks stunning. It’s on display for the rest of this weekend at the Old Parcels Office art space in Scarborough, and then for three weeks at St Mary’s church in Scarborough old town. Further venues to be announced.

Hi everybody.
Just letting you know that the Big Stitch quilt will be exhibited as part of the Big Ideas By The Sea Festival at the Old Parcels Office in Scarborough from Saturday 21st to Sunday 22nd May - 10am until 4pm.
It will then be exhibited at St Mary's church in Scarborough from Tuesday 24th May to Sunday 5th June - please check their website for opening times.

Big Ideas By The Sea is a new festival that started in Scarborough in 2021. Big Ideas By The Sea 2 will take place in May 2022.

A magnificent effort and more panels to collect in the next few days. It was our last official meeting today, but we’re addicted, so we’re having a week off and will be starting a new project!! Huge thanks to everyone who has contributed. It’s been bloomin’ magic!! Watch out for updates as we begin to piece everything together

Just to remind everyone participating in The Big Stitch 2022 that the deadline for submitting your panels is the 31st March.

Finished panels can be posted to Somerton Art Space, Liphill Bank Road, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, HD9 2LQ.

Alternatively, for those living in and around Scarborough, your panels can be dropped off at the Old Parcels Office Artspace, Railway Station Car park, Westborough, Scarborough, YO11 1TU, whilst their current exhibition is on.

This will be Thursday to Sunday 11am until 4pm both this week and next week. You could visit the exhibition whilst you are there.

Please include your name and a short paragraph about your panel.

Thank you all so much for taking part, we are really looking forward to seeing all your finished pieces.
