After an extremely busy couple of weeks, we'd like to take a moment to thank everyone that helps make Holmfirth Artweek what it is.
🙌 Thank you to the artists displaying their work in the Main Exhibition and Fringe, especially to those who give extra time to demonstrate and host workshops.
🙌 Thank you to the volunteers who give their time to help set up and take down the exhibition (particularly to the screen shifters - it's an exhausting task even without the heat), and to those who help keep everything running during the event itself.
🙌 Thank you to the buyers who purchased from the Main Exhibition, Market, Demonstrators and Fringe, and to the visitors who came to admire the art or took part in a workshop to create their own, despite the high temperatures and issues with the lift.
🙌 Thank you to the Friends of Artweek who give continued support every year.
🙌 Thank you to The Civic, Holmfirth for providing the café and help with the building, and to all of the local businesses and venues that give space to host a Fringe, as well as those people who opened up their own homes and studios.
🙌 Thank you to the companies and individuals that donated food, drink and delicious cakes for the café, the floral display for the entrance and the prizes for the exhibition.
🙌 Thank you to Black Hill Creative and HAD-Print for the design and printing of the Guide and other promotional materials.
🙌 Thank you to the Artweek committee who take weeks off their regular jobs to run Artweek voluntarily, as well as spending large amounts of time throughout the year organising the event.
🙌 And finally thank you to The Kirkwood and Macmillan Cancer Support teams who joined us during the event to sell raffle tickets and share information on what we're raising money for.

The majority of the prizes have now been collected, but unfortunately we haven't been able to get through to one winner, so if you have a winning ticket and haven't heard, please get in contact.

The work isn't over yet though! It'll take a little more time to finish making payments to all of the artists for work sold in the Main Exhibition and Market (these are paid separately) and then we have to wait for all of the Fringe payments to come in before we can go over the finances to get the final figure of how much we've raised for 2026.

Today is your last chance to visit the Main Exhibition of Holmfirth Artweek, to see 3 floors of fabulous art and help support our charities, The Kirkwood and Macmillan Cancer Support. Whether you're just visiting, buying a piece from the main exhibition, doing some gift shopping on the market or demonstrators stage or enjoying lunch in our cafe, it all makes a difference.

if you've already visited the Main Exhibition, there are also plenty of Fringe venues open today with even more art to see and buy (and some maybe even a little longer - let us know in the comments if your Fringe will be open after today).

We have 3 floors packed full of original art, all for sale and raising money for The Kirkwood and Macmillan Cancer Support.

The exhibition is full of lots of wonderful pieces, but we have 6 artists that have won a prize.
🏆 Carl Longmate has won the Best Picture in Show, sponsored by Janine Day.
🏆 Thomas Petit has won the John and Isabel Shaw Founders' Prize, sponsored by Sarah Shaw Picture Restoration.
🏆 Krithika Rajagopal has won the Naylor Industries Ceramics Prize, sponsored by Edward Naylor of Naylor Drainage Ltd.
🏆 Emma Louise Butler has won the Howard Asher Colour Prize, sponsored by Howard Asher's family.
🏆 Julie Child has won the Mary Day Textile Prize, sponsored by John Day.
🏆 Kay Dacey has won the Best Newcomer Prize, selected by last year's featured artists - Emma Oughtibridge and Roger Green.

Due to the sad closure of Calder Graphics, this year's Best Newcomer Prize was sponsored by Holmfirth Artweek, but we're looking for a new sponsor for next year. If you're interested in being a sponsor please contact [email protected]

Unfortunately the lift at the Civic is currently not working, which means we have no disabled access to the main exhibition.
The engineers are waiting on a new part being delivered but we don't have an expected date for this at the moment.
We will update if this is fixed before the end of Artweek.

A great start to our workshops yesterday evening, when some imaginative people put together these creations from boxes full of junk, with the help of Mick Kirkby-Geddes.
We have more workshops scheduled for the rest of the week, with gelli printing on Wednesday evening, wet felting on Thursday evening and mixed media landscapes on Friday evening. Update (Tuesday evening) - the lift is having issues again this evening so we currently have no disabled access. We'll update once this is back in use.

Please be aware that our lift is currently out of service. We hope to have it working again as soon as possible, but this means there is currently no disabled access to the exhibition. The cafe (where the workshops are held) and toilets are still accessible.
