It is very exciting to realise that in 9 weeks it will be our first performance of Cinderella.

We are so lucky to have our own set creators who are building the set using the design created by our Lois Parr.

We won’t spoil the surprise by showing the set but here are some of our set creators in action.

There have been hundreds of films inspired by the Cinderella story over the years.

It appears one of the first was Cinderella (1911) a silent film starring Florence La Badie followed by Cinderella (1914), a silent film starring Mary Pickford.

The most recent seems to be Cinderella's Revenge (2024), a live-action horror film starring Natasha Henstridge as the Fairy Godmother who assists Cinderella in seeking a bloody revenge on her stepmother and stepsisters after they've pushed her too far.

We promise there won’t be horror and it definitely won’t be silent at our October panto of Cinderella.

Did you know the earliest version of the Cinderella story is said to be by a Greek storyteller named Strabo. Between 7 BC and 23 AD, he wrote down a tale of a young Egyptian girl named Rhodopis. One day while taking a bath, an eagle took her sandal, flew off, and dropped the sandal on Pharoah’s lap. He was so fascinated by the color and petite size of the slipper, he searched for her and married her.

We definitely won’t be having a Greek tragedy but a fun filled modern version of Cinderella. Watch this space for more.

Our launch evening for Cinderella is Friday 17th April at 7.30pm at The Lighthouse Church, Hardley SO45 3NZ.

We would love to see members old and new so we can tell you all about the great fun pantomime, the songs, the parts available and have a read through.
