As part of Volunteers' Week, we're celebrating some of the incredible projects that volunteers have made possible at New Mills Art Theatre.
One of our favourite archive photos shows the team who installed our revolving stage in 1972 for Fiddler on the Roof as part of the theatre's Golden Jubilee celebrations. At the time, it was quite revolutionary... quite literally! ๐ญ
Fast forward to 2019, and another generation of volunteers came together to transform our auditorium. Armed with paint brushes, paste, hammers, determination and plenty of tea, the community helped create the beautiful space we enjoy today - including installing the gold seats that have become such a feature of the theatre.
These projects remind us that New Mills Art Theatre has always been built by people who care enough to roll up their sleeves and get involved.
And we're not finished yet. The next big chapter is the restoration of our bar and surrounding areas.
To every volunteer who has picked up a paintbrush, wielded a hammer, shared a skill or given their time over the years - thank you. You are part of the story of this theatre.
