Amanda Oliphant - Artist Amanda Oliphant - passionate about art and creative expression, exploring the world through colour, texture and imagination.

Creative workshops with professional artist Amanda, will be held each month, dates tbc, time from 9:45-3pm (allowing for school runs) looking and responding to the local landscape. Materials are provided plus tea/coffee just bring own lunch and soft drinks plus a large rough sketch book. Courses per day £75 (occasional 1to1 available on request). Some new abstract paintings are emerging in the studio. These observational miniatures record aspects of the Norths dramatic landscape. Earthy tones and harsh surfaces are contrasted by the bright warm light giving an almost surreal experience. Not sure how these will finish up but a series of larger paintings capturing the Pennines are being prepared alongside getting ready for Art in The Garden - Sheffield - coming soon

I will be exhibiting a new collection of paintings that reflect aspects of the Chester landscape that relate to many different elements of place. Chester has so much history, layers and intrigue such as its Roman walls, historic river, the weir, the arches, the beautiful Cheshire plain and of course the iconic racecourse, all fragments of inspirational material. It’s always rewarding when the work you’ve made, put to one side to dry, then return to to finalise all comes together when placed in the right choice of frame - hope you like these little gems. They are a response to aspects of the landscape of Chester that’s resonates with me personally and will be on display at this year’s FUSION ART FAIR at the Chester Racecourse April 24-25.
