Hey folks. It’s with a heavy heart we are going to have to postpone the launch party. It would have been the culmination of 3 years of very hard work, celebrating this achievement, and we were really looking forward to it as a bright spot in a horrible year.
But over the past few weeks, it seems the universe has had other ideas and thrown every curveball at us. These are-
1. The vinyl will not be ready in time due to the gatefold sleeve taking longer than a regular sleeve. As a lot of vinyl buyers are collectors, we wanted to make it as aesthetically beautiful as we could to give people their moneys worth. Even if we did go ahead, it’s no longer a vinyl launch due to this.
2. Our bass player has pulled out. We have tried to find a reliable replacement with no joy, and now we are too late to get the music up to speed in time, and we would rather not do it than put on a cobbled together performance with triggered bass as we have advertised a full band.
3. And mostly, the ticket sales have been VERY low. We hoped that with all our friends, family and the other contributors to the album, we’d be able to sell 150 tickets to at least break even. We reduced the price, meaning we would still make a loss if sold out, but it’s made no difference. It looks like a lot of people have other commitments at the moment. Everyone who has bought a ticket will receive a full refund, plus a free ticket to the next event as a thank you for your support.
As it stands, we’ve lost quite a chunk of money as we paid for a venue in Canterbury to make it easier for people to access, and the cost of the flyers on top of that. The changes we have made have had no difference to the ticket sales. As we promised to pay all the other acts, sound and visual teams properly as this is something important to us, we can not lose another big chunk of money on this, so we are going to have to count our losses and postpone. We can’t expect people to work for free despite the kind offers of the other acts. Artists need to be paid, none of us get artist only British Gas vouchers or food stamps.
