Founded in 1942 by Muriel Hasland, the Hasland Dance Studios is one of Kent's longest running and best known dance schools. Seventy-three years after the school was founded, we have just been named Dance School of the Year 2015 out of the whole of the UK, have expanded into a teacher training college offering dance teaching qualifications up to Foundation degree level, and are currently one of jus

t a very small number of schools in Kent to hold 'Recognised School Status' with the Council of Dance Education and Training, reflecting our high standards of dance education as well as our commitment to the safety of our students. With classes from age 2½ to adults, in Ballet, Modern, Tap, Street and Musical Theatre, we have something to suit everybody. We offer free taster classes in all our dance styles, so whether you would like to book your child in to try a class, or just come in to meet our friendly team and have a look around our studios, we would love to hear from you! Over the half-term break, a number of our students headed off to national and international competitions, representing the school at the All England Regional Finals and the UDO European Championships! 🌟

A huge well done to Beau, Gabriel, Maisie and Mollie, who competed at the All England Regional Finals, and to Emily, Ella and Faye, who took to the stage at the UDO European Championships. 👏

A special mention goes to Beau, who has qualified for the All England Finals taking place this August! An incredible achievement, with all four of his solos placing in their sections:

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day and the incredible women who make our studio what it is. 💚✨

Over the years, we’ve been privileged to have so many inspirational women of all ages walk through the doors of HDS — each bringing passion, strength and creativity to our dance family.

But these women are truly the backbone of our studio. They work tirelessly to guide, support and inspire the next generation — helping young girls grow in confidence, believe in themselves, and understand that anything is possible.

HDS is so lucky to have such an amazing team of strong, dedicated women shaping the future every single day.

Our Primary Tappers learnt the “freeze” for the very first time last night! ❄️✨

This skill is a big step forward — it helps them learn how to count the music independently, sharpen their timing, and build strong balance and control. So proud of their focus and effort!

Tap dancing is about more than just making noise… it’s about listening, counting, and moving with confidence 💚
