Largely self taught, I only started painting seriously during the Foot & Mouth disaster of 2002, when the whole family was quarantined on our family farm in Herefordshire, terrified that we would lose our precious herd of Pedigree Hereford Cattle. We wanted a meaningful record of the cattle should the worst happen so I started painting watercolours of them. Fortunately we all survived, soon commis
sions started to come in from other livestock owners and my business was borne. Portraits of my own kids led to other commissions - portraiture is always challenging but probably my favourite type of work. I work in a variety of media depending on the subject - watercolour, oils, pastels, collage and mixed media. I particularly enjoy watercolour on a collaged gessoed board, which creates some fabulous, if a little unpredictable, textural results. In 2007 I attended a very part time course at Hereford College of Arts and became enthused about printmaking. During the last 12 months I have been experimenting with "Safefoam" and lino, but the recent purchase of a small etching press will give me scope to further develop my fine art limited edition prints. I also sell an ever expanding range of quality greetings cards and open edition prints of Hereford cattle, sheep and other livestock. These are stocked at selected outlets throughout Herefordshire. Should you be interested in my work, please feel free to give me a ring or contact me via Facebook. I will answer queries as soon as possible but please be patient as I spend most of my time outside on the farm where the phone/broadband reception is dire!! If you do please like and share my page!
