The last few pics have all been some tasty closeups of the seafoam combo I use on pots, mostly to bring a bit of the sea with me everywhere!

With glaze combos, it’s truly luck of the kiln gods. Even with consistent measured mixing, timed dips, consistent firings, and the same areas of the kiln, you truly never know what you’ll get! Sometimes it’s subtle variation of the green with a hint of whites and yellows from the titanium, others you get a massive wave of movement down the pot (and often off the handle 🙃)

In other news, we’re busy planning events at CUP studio! We have a spooky Halloween raku on October 31st, a fundraiser meal (which our rose will be cooking for), and the winter market! Not to mention we’re knee deep in planning for 2026!!

With Artsite shut down, I’m taking a bit of a break from making
With all my stock and studio equipment currently cost in a storage unit, I’m closing out my markets this year with what stock I have left.

Hoping to start fresh in the new year once the madness passes, brewing and scheming with to see what plans we can’t come up with! (And maybe hopefully definitely execute them too)

For anyone who missed out, the gallery at the studio will be back to normal from Monday, and my next market is at October 5th!

Once the mayhem of prep and set up has passed, the joy of exhibitions like is all of the people you get to meet!
I’ve already had loads of lovely conversations with people passing through for a wee nosey at the pots, the studio, or lured in by the whiff of coffee 😎

The rest of the team will be at the studio till Sunday evening if you fancy a peep at some pots or a chat about what we do at the studio with some coffee!

These bad boys are nice and easy to make, I use about 100g of clay, and whatever you want the shape to be as long as you throw your rim to about 5cm (with a standard 12-15% shrinkage clay) you’ll be able to fit a medium to large egg! Or have a cut little pot, either works!

To make yourself a wee clock, just throw a small bowl, 300-400g, and turn the foot completely flat, and fairly thin. Find yourself some clock innards that will fit (I get mine from clock parts.co.uk) and pop them in there!

It’s a good idea to do some browsing for what parts you may use beforehand you get making, so that you know what space you’ll need inside the bowl.

I’ve ran into issues with bowls I made that curved too tight from the foot into the wall so the mechanism didn’t quite fit. Also the foot of the bowl was left too thick on some (the glaze will impact thickness too!) and the spindle didn’t quite reach through.
