Currently listening to Atalanta by Jennifer Saint — in little bursts whenever I can (not the easiest with a 3-month-old in tow!).

Really enjoying it so far — the pace, the mythology, the female strength — but if I’m honest, Ariadne is still my favourite. Do you agree?

Also! I’ll be adding some A3 prints of my current designs to the website very soon — keep an eye out if you’ve been waiting for bigger, bolder versions

I watched the 1963 Jason and the Argonauts with my 2-year-old recently, and she was far braver than me at her age – I used to hide behind the sofa when the skeletons came on!

So here is the Greek Boats greeting card, inspired by mythological odysseys.

🔥🐴 I’m currently reading Horses of Fire by A.D. Rhine — a fierce and feminist retelling of Troy, told not by kings and warriors, but by the women whose lives burned in its shadow.
⠀
I’m especially captivated by the depth given to Hector, Andromache, and Helen — complex, human, and heartbreakingly real. Hector and Andromache’s relationship feels genuinely believable and full of love, which makes the whole thing hit even harder. And honestly? Paris is a total dick.

✨ A must-read for lovers of myth, power, and resistance.

Hello, I thought it would introduce my self again, my name is Charlotte.

I created Hippolyta Press to bring together my love of design and my passion for myths and legends.

I came up with the concept of Hippolyta Press while my baby daughter was napping. I was on maternity leave from my 9-to-5 job that I was only doing to pay for life. I decided I didn't want to work for anyone else anymore. At that time, while my daughter was sleeping, I was reading lots of amazing retellings of classic myths and legends (still my genre of choice). My best friend and I always discuss the books we are reading and send cards to each other, and I wanted to send her a mythology-themed card but couldn't find one anywhere. So, I designed my own, and Hippolyta Press was born.

A little reminder that it’s Father’s Day this Sunday ⚡️

This is Zeus – king of the gods, ruler of the skies, and father to many (seriously, so many). Known for his thunderbolts, dramatic "love" life, and questionable parenting style, he’s the original mythological dad.

I’ve got an hour left of Herc by Phoenicia Rogerson, and honestly? I don’t want it to end. It’s funny, sharp, heartbreaking in places, and completely flips the usual Hercules story on its head. Instead of the polished, heroic version, we get something much messier and way more human—and I’ve loved it. Maybe not a hero that needs to be talked about more but still a good atory

If you’re into myth retellings like Circe or Stone Blind, or just fancy a fresh take on a legend, I can’t recommend this one enough. Have you read it?

Finally got out of the office this weekend and visited the beauty at the amazing Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. This is a Jar decorated with a 6 tentacled octopus found in Knossos Crete 1450- 1400 BC. These Octupuss vases have inspired our Octuposs card.
