WARNING.
GROSS POST
I had a young teenager in this morning for a piercing removal.
**PIERCING NOT DONE BY ME**
5 days of antibiotics and no improvement on swelling. I donned my gloves and simply touched the piercing and pus started POURING out of the piercing.
Normally I absolutely wouldn't recommend removing a piercing whilst theres an active infection but given how much pain she was in, medical advice to be remove the piercing, already on a course of antibiotics and another medical appointment today I made the executive choice to remove jewellery which turned out to be low quality stainless steel.
This is not even half of the guaze used.
Once the jewellery was removed I cleaned down using Neilmed, covered both front and back of the ear and reminded to request the piercing site to be flushed at today's appointment to ensure no bacteria is trapped beneath the skin
Remember to seek professional advice prior to removing jewellery from an infected piercing site.
