I was lucky enough to be part of the really beautiful process of hand fasting. Michael Ratledge had done the ceremony with Pixi Love and Micha Speaker and then we recreated the process in my workshop so that I could life cast the hand tying. They asked me to create a piece in their personal colours in a way that the colours merged at some points. Here are the pictures and results.

I am a multimedia artist. I create costumes, sculptures and life casts on commission. The wonder of my years as a circus trapeze artist are now brought to earth in the pieces I create.
My passion is intimate life casting. Current work brings together my love of the human form with my love of ropes, I am making bespoke sculpture of the Japanese art of rope binding - Sh***ri. Life casting Sh***ri enhances the physical form and captures a moment of emotional journey and connection for the people taking part.
The beautiful rope patterns and knotting of rigger Michael Ratledge .edge.to.life, have added an exciting new dimension to my sculpture.
I was privileged to life cast a hand fasting ceremony with Michael and was briefly part of a deeply personal story. For the final sculpture I have added emotional depth of this loving piece, symbolically integrating their personalities by combining their chosen colours in a marbling effect.
My costumes for circus, cabaret and the outdoor arts combine glorious colours, sequins, mirrors and feathers. Find my costume archive at www.skinningthecat.biz or on Instagram .
As an artist I am inspired by people’s life stories, emotions and connections. Working within and across these three disciplines fuels a desire to create the ultimate 3-dimensional portrait, capturing my subjects as whole human beings with unique personal experiences. My sculpture exhibits extend via film and narrative to create installations.
I love capturing those moments of change, finding ways to show the strength and range of feelings involved. Some pieces express joy, captured in my most recent work ‘Carnival Crowd’. Others may capture despair, as expressed in my film and sculpture installation ‘Ground Bound’.
“The casting was an incredible experience and the results... just wow, wow, wow!”
