Hebden Bridge LittleTheatre Visit our website at http://hblt.co.uk The society’s logo, devised in the thirties, depicts art rising out of industry.

Hebden Bridge Little Theatre was formed in 1924 and has been producing plays almost continuously ever since, in places as various as the Co-operative Hall, the Picture House, the Band Rooms on the park, and for a prolonged period (1937–1977) in the Ground Floor of the Trades Club. This came to an end when we decided to create our own premises by converting a coach garage on the present Holme Stree

t site – a seventy seat, ‘little theatre’ in the truest sense. For more than a decade audiences warmed to its intimate atmosphere, but it eventually became so dilapidated we had to embark on a major fund-raising and building project, that culminated in the opening of the present 120 seat theatre in 1993. The chimneys may have disappeared, but Hebden Bridge Little Theatre, in its latest, permanent home, is here to stay.

There will be a casting read-through of 'Dracula' at the theatre, at 7-30 pm on Sunday September 4th.

There is a cast of 8: a hero, a heroine, a maid, a father, a nutty professor, a fly-eating lunatic, a guard, and of course the count himself.

The play runs from November 28th -December 3rd, with a matinee on Saturday, at 2-30 pm. Rehearsals will be on Mondays and Thursdays with an odd Wednesday thrown in if needed.

Loosely based on the Bram Stoker novel this spoof version promises more spills than thrills, and is guaranteed to get an audience's blood coursing, not with fear but with laughter . There are songs too, specially written for the show by Tony Webster.

If you can't attend but would like to be involved give Ray Riches, the director, a ring on 843907.

Moonlight and Magnolias by Ron Hutchinson

A readthrough for the October play ‘Moonlight and Magnolias’ will take place at Hebden Bridge Little Theatre on Sunday 3rd of July 2016 at 7.30pm.

The play requires two middle aged men, another man slightly older and a woman slightly younger.

The play will be performed from the 3rd the 8th of October with a matinee performance on the last Saturday. Rehearsals will take place on Mondays and Thursdays with additional Wednesday rehearsals included later on.

This is a terrific ‘four hander’ about a last minute screenplay re-write for the 1939 epic ‘Gone With The Wind’. American accents a must!

If you cannot attend readthrough and would really like to be involved please let Hannah Stow know via the Theatre.

Flood Relief Fund-Raiser

The Good Old (Bad Old) Days!
A Concert Celebrating the Golden Years of Music Hall

Saturday 14th May, 7.30pm
Little Theatre, Holme Street
Tickets £8, Ring: 01422 843907 to book

In the Good Old Days (before the internet!) people entertained themselves with a communal sing-song round the piano. These songs were brought to life by the superstar music hall performers of the age, like Marie Lloyd and Vesta Tilley. They could be a bit naughty on occasion, too! The Little Theatre aims to recapture this mix of comedy, melody, and a knowing wink, in a concert celebrating the Golden Years of Music Hall. This one-off concert, on Saturday 14th May, at 7.30pm, is a fund-raiser for our flood relief fund. Tickets are just £8, and can be booked on 01422 843907, or bought on the door. Period dress is optional, but a prize will be awarded to the best dressed audience member.

The concert organiser, Vaughan Leslie says: ‘Join us for an enjoyable, cheeky, retro knees-up. If you fancy a sing-along, come along! ’
