I’m Julian aka artbyjoules im a pen and ink artist inspired by nature.i work with signo white gel pens, black fineliner pens and watercolour brush pens.

I got into art quite by accident about 5 years ago due to a serious injury to my knees. I needed something to do while i was off work and just started sketching .i was 56 at the time and had never drawn before in my life , not even at school !

What first started as a hobby
has grown into a career for me because as well as selling my art at local galleries and craft markets i also run pen and ink workshops and also i run art wellbeing classes for ladies with mental health issues and teenagers who have had problems at school. This is a great tool to help theyre wellbeing and boost

Lydia began printing ‘trans rights are human rights’ t-shirts after the supreme court ruling in 2025, printing on upcycled t-shirts and donating £5 from each sale to a local trans charity. These will be for sale alongside other tees and mini abstract drawings exploring the connection between body and space.

ARTIST BIO

I’m Rebekah Marrington and I make cyanotypes - this is a camera-less photographic technique that creates a Prussian blue image by exposing a light-sensitive coated paper to UV light (sunshine!).

This photogram technique was invented in 1842 by Sir John F. W. Herschel and originally used for reproducing maths tables, documents and technical drawings, known as blueprints, as well as for documenting and cataloguing botanical species, notably by early adopter Anna Atkins.

To make the image, in subdued light I paint strong watercolour paper with a light-sensitive solution of potassium ferricyanide and ferric ammonium citrate and let the paper fully dry in the dark. I compose my image with pressed botanicals and then expose the composition to bright sunshine.

After exposure I submerge the paper in water to process and fix the image, then repeatedly wash the chemicals from the paper. I dry the image in daylight and then use heavy books to flatten it. The final colour materialises about 24 hours after exposure during the drying process.

Any minor imperfections seen in originals occur due to the organic nature of the cyanotype process. I sell originals, framed and unframed, in formats from A6 to A3, as well gicleé prints, cards, postcards and notebooks, which are printed from my originals.

Based in Hebden Bridge, I taught myself the cyanotype method and have honed my technique through experimentation. My botanical samples come from my garden and also from local walks. I press the flowers and plants and, through careful storage, can print with most items several times. When the sun isn’t shining I make jewellery, as Wearable Whatknots, working with chunky recycled yarn and small ceramic pieces.

ARTIST BIO

I am an illustrator and oil painter who works to make difficult subjects feel tangible, accessible, and even joyful, without diminishing their depth.

Following the recent release of my picture book ‘Part of Everything’, I will be bringing this and a selection of other work to the Summer Artist’s Market.

‘Part of Everything’ is a picture book, written and illustrated by myself which explores death and its place in Nature.

The book is a tool which can be used to open conversations which may feel complex or intimidating to access. Using the cycle of Nature to explore themes of death and loss, this book can be used as a starting point and support for ongoing dialogue.
