Mark’s clearly being brought up to speed, and Craft & Canvas is once again operating with its full management team.

We’d love to tell you they’re discussing stock, strategy and serious shop business…

They’re not.

Sid says he heard the words “alpaca wool”, “how much?” and “don’t tell Mark.”

So naturally, he’s now supervising. 🐑

Normal service has officially resumed. 💛

Greg’s back from Peru… and apparently he’s returned just in time for proper notebook-and-brush weather. 😂🎨

No alpaca smuggling scandal to report.
No suitcase full of mystery fibres.
Just Greg, back behind the counter, pretending he hasn’t been off gallivanting around South America while the rest of us have been holding the fort.

Very convenient timing too, because these handmade leather notebooks and fine brushes are exactly the sort of thing that make you want to sit down, sketch, scribble, plan, paint… or write a very detailed account of your travels.

Sid has already asked Greg for a full Peru debrief.

Main question:
“Did you meet any sheep?”

Secondary question:
“And if not… why not?” 🐑😂

It’s 1st October and Sid has made a public service announcement…

“Summer is over. The sandals are questionable. The evenings are drawing in. And, most importantly… WE HAVE ENTERED WOOL SEASON.”

Sid has been waiting for this moment since approximately April. 😂

He’s seen the new Stylecraft Naturals Pure Wool display and is now acting like he’s personally responsible for autumn.

“See?” he said. “This is my time.”

Apparently the official October checklist is now:
Start a new project you definitely don’t need
Make something warm
Pretend the rain is “cosy”
Buy wool because Sid said so.

Greg may be on his way back from Peru, but Sid has very firmly taken charge of seasonal marketing. Sshhh… don’t tell Greg 🤫

Happy October from Craft & Canvas. Wool season is officially open. 🎉

Wow, just wow, that a day. Hammerheads, rays, turtles and I forgot all the different fish.

Well… Greg disappears off to Peru and the wool apparently carries on without him. 😂🧶

A lovely little stack of Malabrigo Metamorphosis Sock has landed on the shelves, and the colours are ridiculously good!

Jaipur Pink. Marrakech. Uluru. Sloth.
Basically, the yarn has travelled further than most of us this year. 🫣

Beautiful, rich, slightly moody shades…exactly the sort of skeins you pick up “just to have a look” and then somehow leave the shop owning three.

Sid has inspected them and would like it formally noted that while Greg is currently fraternising with llamas in Peru, this is still a sheep-led establishment. 🐑

Greg has not responded…

Probably because he’s too busy “researching fibres.” 🦙😂

Pop in and have a squish before Sid starts claiming them as relatives.

Greg’s gone to Peru…

We assumed: holiday.
Sid assumed: betrayal. 😂

Apparently Greg has travelled all the way to the land of llamas and alpacas and somehow thought Sid wouldn’t notice.

Sid’s current theory is that this is actually a highly secretive Craft & Canvas wool-sourcing expedition and Greg is personally quality-checking every fluffy animal he meets.

“Soft?”
“Warm?”
“Would this knit up nicely?”
“Can I get 20 kilos in hand luggage?”

Meanwhile Sid is back in Hebden Bridge feeling extremely replaced and has requested a formal meeting on Greg’s return…Preferably with snacks.😝

Have a brilliant time, Greg…and if you do happen to come back with a suitcase full of alpaca wool… we absolutely won’t complain. 🦙🧶😂

A bit tired forgive me. Here in Machu Picchu Pueblo after 15 hours but we had the most fantastic time in Lima visiting .you and buying some fantastic alpaca/silk/cashmere yarn!
