Ben and Steph had a great day on Monday with the fabulous Year 6 children at Springfield Academy in Nottingham.

The children worked extremely hard all day, playing the trumpet for the first time, and achieved their Arts Award Discover!

There were some extremely talented young musicians who we are looking forward to working with over the next few weeks.

Music is a vital part of a broad and balanced primary curriculum — yet too often, it becomes fragmented or reduced to short-term cover solutions.

Specialist music PPA provision offers a stronger approach. By embedding experienced practitioners into the timetable, schools can move beyond simply “covering” lessons and instead deliver high-quality, curriculum-led music education.

From clear progression and consistent teaching to joined-up opportunities across lessons, clubs and instrumental learning, specialist provision helps ensure music is taught with intention, depth and impact.

Our latest blog explores why this shift matters and how schools can use PPA more strategically to strengthen their curriculum.

Why does singing matter in primary schools?

From boosting confidence and wellbeing to supporting literacy, memory and social connection, singing is one of the most powerful and accessible tools we have to support children’s development. Yet it’s often overlooked or squeezed out of the timetable.

In our latest blog, we explore the wide-ranging benefits of singing in schools and why it deserves a central place in every child’s education.

Many schools rely on non specialist cover for PPA.

There’s another option.

We deliver specialist music teaching as part of PPA cover, providing consistency for pupils and dependable PPA for staff.

Curriculum led, planned in advance, and delivered by experienced music educators.

Available to primary schools across the East Midlands

Music PPA doesn’t have to mean “filler”.

We work with schools to design a bespoke music curriculum, aligning:

• School values, themes, and assessment arrangements
• National Curriculum
• Instrumental learning
• Clubs and enrichment

So pupils experience progression — not isolated lessons.

We have limited availability to work with schools in the East Midlands. Contact us now to start planning for September.

WHAT A FORTNIGHT OF CREATIVITY!

March and April were absolutely packed with music, movement, and making, as we delivered a fabulous programme of workshops across schools, holiday clubs, community venues, and YMCA provision across Derbyshire. From drumming and dance to trumpets, ukulele, and Boomwhackers, young people across the region got stuck into hands-on creative experiences.

Over two weeks, we worked with hundreds of children across the county including:

Heath Fields Primary School (Macs Club) – combining dance and drumming to kick off the holidays with energy and movement
Rosliston Forestry Centre with Get Active in the Forest – outdoor drumming sessions with South Derbyshire District Council
Erewash Museum – bringing trumpets and drumming
SEN Fit at St Hugh’s, Borrowash – inclusive drumming workshops
Inspiring Inksterall – drumming
Imagination Station at the Firebird Centre – ukulele exploration and Boomwackers
Taxal & Fernilee School – lively dance and ukelele workshops
Whaley Bridge After School Club and Infinite Wellbeing Holiday Club – trumpet sessions as part of Arts Award Discover

And alongside this, we were thrilled to deliver multiple HAF drumming sessions with YMCA, at Redwood Primary and Markeaton Primary.

Thanks to all funders, facilitators, helpers and fabulous young people for a brilliant two weeks of music and dance!
