Back to school means back to music! Feeling a little rusty after the summer break? Don’t panic—we’ve got you covered.

Here are some quick tips for a successful musical start:

✔️ Check your instrument—make sure it’s in good shape.
✔️ Warm up with breathing and long tones.
✔️ Practice with purpose—small steps lead to big progress.
✔️ Stay positive—patience is key!

17th August: Erewash Museum

Today we had a wonderful session at Erewash Museum in partnership with Erewash Borough Council.

Nicola led a watercolours workshop where children explored different painting techniques, experimented with colour and created some fantastic artwork. It was great to see everyone developing their creativity, building confidence and enjoying the chance to express themselves through art.

Thank you to all the children who took part and made the session such a success.

14th August: Mickley Community Centre

We had a fantastic creative session at Mickley Community Centre with Mickley HAF Group.

Led by Nicola and Charlotte, children enjoyed designing and creating their own clay sculptures. From shaping patterns to adding creative details, everyone showed great imagination and enthusiasm while developing new artistic skills.

It was lovely to see so many children proudly showing off their finished creations and enjoying a hands on day of creativity.

13 August: Borrowash, Barlborough and New Whittington

Another busy day of creativity, music and movement as the Buzz Music and Arts team delivered activities across three locations.

At SENFIT in Borrowash, Justin led an energetic drumming workshop where children explored rhythm, built confidence and had great fun making music together.

In Barlborough, working with Bolsover District Council, Becky and Kyle delivered a lively dance session. Children embraced the opportunity to get active, learn new moves and express themselves creatively.

Meanwhile, at New Whittington Social Institute, in partnership with Chesterfield Borough Council, Nicola led a recycled sculptures workshop. Children showed fantastic imagination as they transformed everyday materials into unique bird themed works of art while learning about creativity and reuse.

It was wonderful to see so many children taking part, trying new activities and having fun throughout the day.

12th August: Hatton, Langley Mill, and Matlock

Today was filled with creativity, music and movement as we delivered activities across Derbyshire.

At Heathfields Primary School, working with Mac's Club, Ben A and Steph led an engaging Arts Award session where children explored their creativity, developed new skills and celebrated their achievements.

At SENFIT in Langley Mill, Justin delivered a drumming workshop that gave children the chance to explore rhythm, build confidence and enjoy making music together.

Meanwhile at Hall Leys Park in Matlock, working with Derbyshire Dales District Council, Jay led a lively drumming session while Becky delivered an energetic dance workshop. It was fantastic to see so many children taking part, trying something new and enjoying creative activities outdoors.

11th August: Ockbrook, Heanor, Pinxton and Stonebroom

What a busy and rewarding day for the Buzz Music and Arts team, delivering drumming workshops across four locations.

At Ockbrook School, Ben and Charlotte led a day of creative instrument making and music performance with the fabulous young people attending residential camps at Over The Wall Charity.

At Heanor Leisure Centre, working with Amber Valley Sports Partnership, Helen and Hannah led children through a fun filled session exploring rhythm and teamwork through music.

In Pinxton, with Bolsover District Council, Jay and Becky delivered an energetic drumming workshop where children developed confidence and musical skills while creating rhythms together.

At Stonebroom HAF, Phil and Steve brought plenty of energy to another fantastic drumming session, with children getting involved and enjoying the opportunity to make music as a group.

A huge thank you to all the children who took part and made the day such a success.

10th August: Pilsley and Belper

Another fantastic day of creative learning and music making.

At Pilsley Primary School, working with Tryumph, Ben A and Steph delivered an Arts Award session that encouraged children to explore their creativity, develop new skills and celebrate their achievements through the arts.

Over at Belper Leisure Centre, in partnership with Amber Valley Sports Partnership, Helen and Hannah led a lively drumming workshop. Children embraced the challenge of learning new rhythms, working together and creating some impressive performances.

It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm and creativity across both sessions.

7th August: Shirebrook and Mastin Moor

We had a great day delivering creative activities across two locations.

At Shirebrook Academy, working with Bolsover District Active Schools Network, children got stuck into an energetic drumming workshop led by Adam and Charlotte. The session was packed with rhythm games, teamwork and plenty of opportunities for everyone to develop their musical skills while having fun.

Meanwhile, at Mastin Moor Club, we were delighted to support a session with Chesterfield Borough Council, delivered by Natalie and Ben A. Children enjoyed a creative and engaging session, getting involved, building confidence and making the most of the activities on offer.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a positive day.
