Today we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of John Birch — the man behind the famous donuts here at Funland for over 50 years.
John, alongside his wife Christine, have been part of the very heart of Funland since the beginning. Generations of visitors will remember his friendly face, warm smile, and the smell of fresh donuts that became such a special part of a trip to Funland.
So many families have returned to Funland year after year, generation after generation, remembering the famous parrot outside calling out “Who’s a lucky boy?” while they stood watching the donuts cook. For so many people, that little moment became part of the magic of visiting Funland, and John was at the centre of those treasured memories.
Funland Amusement Park will be closed today, Tuesday 19th May so that we can say our goodbyes to John.
Our thoughts are with Christine and all of John’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time. ❤️
