A brilliantly unusual Yorkshire dining experience is returning to How Stean Gorge in Nidderdale this October.

“Ledge ’n Dairy” begins with a 40-foot abseil into the limestone gorge. You’ll then sit at a private table suspended above the ravine and tuck into:

🧀 A board of locally sourced Yorkshire cheeses
🍇 Crackers, chutneys and fruit
🍷 A glass of port
🌊 A dramatic Yorkshire Dales view beneath your feet

Our Yorkshire Dales Cheese Trail has a rather special starting point...
Ashes Farm!
Cheesemaking took place here at the farm, and the story later became connected with Iain Hill and Ribblesdale Cheese.
Although Ribblesdale Cheese in Hawes stopped trading in 2020, we're proud that our old farmhouse has its own little chapter in the story of Dales cheesemaking.
Today we're surrounded by an exciting new generation of local cheesemakers.
So when our guests follow our Cheese Trail, they're not just tasting Yorkshire cheese...
They're following a little piece of our own history.
