📊 MARKET DAY FOOTFALL FIGURES ARE IN!

I’m absolutely delighted to share that 5,482 members of the public were counted at the Riverside Market during Haverfordwest Town Council Civic Week Market Day, courtesy of Chris Walters from Riverside Shopping Centre.

That’s 2,332 more people than the average footfall of 3,150 — a fantastic increase! 👏

It proves that when we put on events like this, people want to come into Haverfordwest, and market day in Castle ward clearly have a part to play.

A huge thank you to Chris Walters and the Riverside Shopping Centre, Pure West Radio, and all 30 traders who joined us on the day. Without your support, this simply wouldn’t have been possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🙏

We’ll be looking at bringing more market days to Haverfordwest in the near future keep a look out on Pure West Radio and the Riverside Shopping Centre.

More to come!

❤️ Haverfordwest — there is a vision, and we are getting on with it.

There has been a lot of discussion today following the latest coverage about Haverfordwest and the challenges facing our town centre.

Let me be absolutely clear: we know there are challenges. We see them, we hear residents and businesses, and we are not pretending everything is perfect.

But I also want the people of Haverfordwest to know this:

There is a vision for our town, and Haverfordwest Town Council is doing everything it can to deliver its part of it.

This year alone, we have delivered and supported more than 27 events, with more still to come — creating reasons for people to visit, meet, celebrate and engage with their town.

But regeneration cannot be built on events alone.

We are also looking at practical ways to support businesses and encourage investment, including our proposal around the temporary suspension of business rates. We are thinking differently, putting ideas on the table and having the conversations needed to move things forward.

Just as importantly, our relationship with our Haverfordwest County Councillors is stronger than ever. We are communicating, sharing ideas and working together because we all want the same thing: a thriving Haverfordwest.

That is the vision.

A regenerated town centre.

More businesses and investment.

More footfall.

More community engagement.

More life and spirit in our streets.

And a town that residents can feel genuinely proud of.

That is how we make Haverfordwest the best in the West.

There will always be people from outside Haverfordwest who want to take the occasional political pot-shot. That's politics.

But my question to them is simple:

What is your plan for Haverfordwest?

Not what is wrong.

Not who is to blame.

What is your solution?

There is now an opportunity to shape the future of Pembrokeshire, particularly with the changes that will come to County Council with next years elections.

So let's see the ideas. Let's see the ambition. And let's see the willingness to work together to deliver them.

Because Haverfordwest doesn't need people talking the town down.

It needs people who believe in it.

I believe in OUR town. I believe in our residents, our businesses and our communities.

And I believe that by working together — Town Council, County Council, businesses, community organisations and residents — we can make Haverfordwest the best in the West.

❤️ This is our town. This is our vision. And we're getting on with it.

(NOTE THESE ARE MY VIEWs AND OPINION)

☀️ SOME GOOD NEWS FOR ONCE! ☀️

Bora da, good morning from everyone here at Riverside Shopping Centre! 👋

After what has been a rather sad couple of days, with the news of the passing of two much-loved icons in Dolly Parton and Tim Curry, we thought we’d start today a little differently…

With some good news for once! ❤️

Sometimes the good news is simply remembering that there is actually an awful lot to smile about right here in Pembrokeshire.

Over the last few weeks we’ve seen young people across our county celebrating their exam results and looking forward to university, apprenticeships, employment and exciting new chapters in their lives. 🎓

Pembrokeshire’s learners have been praised for their commitment, resilience and determination.

We’ve seen communities come together for events, carnivals and celebrations.

We’ve seen local businesses continuing to work hard, invest and employ local people.

And here in Haverfordwest, we’re seeing investment in our town and exciting projects taking shape — including the £15 million redevelopment of our historic Haverfordwest Castle, with its new roof now in place and plans for a new visitor attraction, café and outdoor events space. 🏰

Sometimes the bad news travels much further and much faster than the good.

So this morning, let’s give the good news a bit of airtime too! 😊

Has something brilliant happened to you, your family, your business or your community recently?

Passed your driving test? 🚗
Got a new job? 🎉
Celebrating an anniversary? ❤️
Received some exam results you’re proud of? 🎓
Raised money for charity? 🙌
Welcomed a new addition to the family? 👶
Your child had their first day at school? 🎒
Finally finished that DIY job that’s been staring at you for six months? 😂
Or maybe you’ve simply had a really good week!

We’d love to hear it.

Big or small, good news is good news.

Let’s fill the comments with a little bit of positivity from Haverfordwest and across Pembrokeshire today. 🌈❤️

Have a wonderful Thursday from all of us at Riverside Shopping Centre. 👋

And remember — our shops are open, our independents would love to see you, and there’s always a warm welcome waiting at Riverside.
